Now on the CBn main page...

Plus, costume designer Lindy Hemming on the association between Bond and Brioni

Following the ET report in which apparently the presenter said that Bond was wearing a Tom Ford suit, could it be that Bond has gone American?
We know that Brioni have said that they're out, and the people we believed were doing it (Dunhill) have shown no knowledge of working on Bond when posters on AJB rang up the New York and London offices.
Craig is a wearer of Ford suits (he was recently reported as preferring to wear his own Ford suit to a photoshoot) so could it be that his influence has spread to 007's costume design? Or was the ET presenter mistaken?

Well, from this lot MI6.com are saying it is so... wink.gif

But don't you just love the emphasis on quality and expense EON put up there on the screen?

Whether we like it (Ford) or not? Or whether, without the benefit of Blue Ray and nose pressed against the screen, we can tell it apart from any other well-fitting suit?

I thought Dunhill was confirmed: http://commanderbond.net/article/4560. No? That's a shame.

I haven't seen the ET report. Could just have muddled with this, as mark suggests: http://getkempt.com/filmic/bonds-big-into-tom.php

Were all the suits Craig wore in CR really all custom-made? Perhaps they were laser-cut from his measurements - they have to go through a lot of suits, as the stunt guy has to be wearing the same thing, and it takes quite a while to make bespoke.

Ford is obviously a great designer, but I'd still prefer Bond to wear British suits with heritage, and preferably a brand that is mentioned in Fleming's work. Dunhill hit both those marks.

Dunhill was not only reported by CBn, there were a lot of other ("major") news outlets.

A strong point toward Tom Ford, admittedly.

The presenter clearly mentions the brand during her introduction, but when we see her talking to Craig, she only speaks about "those suits" (even though - by means of clever editing technique - it is implied that both segments were filmed back to back and that Craig knows what she said before).

There still is the possibility (given the overall quality of the whole report) that someone knew about the Ford/GQ story and didn't even bother to ask about the tailor. I wouldn't be very much surprised.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but Shrublands says on the other thread that they even talk to Craig about it in the ET clip, so I guess it must be true.
I don't think it's too disappointing; it's a high class brand, pretty cool, and Bond and Fleming were always pretty keen on anything American. I was wondering about the stuntman issue too; I thought you'd have to have one of the bigger houses to get all of the suits required.

Agree - I think the jury is still well and truly out. Ford is a bit high fashion for Bond, I think, much prefer the idea of Dunhill, as closer to the characters roots.

No one mentions "Tom Ford" in a direct conversation, not Craig and not the presenter.
Watch the clip to see what I'm talking about.

Again, it looks a lot like Ford, but I'll keep my reservations until final confirmation.

Chill your beans mate- you only posted two minutes before I did; your post wasn't there when I was replying to SNF.
As I say, I haven't had a chance to watch it yet- I will do when I'm at home. As you say; it certainly sounds as if there's some doubt there.

Just had another look at it and the point Stromberg makes about the editing is correct.

However, apparently Dunhill have denied any involvement with QoS, and it seems like the sort of thing that ET would get right. Anyway, it strikes me as true. We will see.

Where has Dunhill made this denial?

Some guys on the AJB forums have been phoning up their offices and they said that the people at Dunhill seemed to have no idea about Bond. Not exactly solid proof either as there could be many reasons why they said no. A bit of a puzzle!

In an interview, (I will have a look for it and get back to you, can't seem to Google find it at the moment) a rep said their connection is with Daniel Craig not James Bond. I remember seeing this at the end of last year, but I thought they were just being evasive until an announcement was made at the time

Also, a chap from another forum (AJB) has contacted Dunhill on both sides of the Atlantic and they had said they are not involved apparently.

Not conclusive I know, but if ET were given access to the set and the cast, told all about what was going on, why include a bit of unsupported information like this?

It's not as if someone was saying, “right, the interviews with the stars and access to the filming is not good enough, we HAVE to know who makes the suits”, is it?
