Brilliant, but firstly Allan Turing was more than a key codebreaker he was the codebreaker who found a solution to solving the Enigma codes.
Secondly, although Operation Ruthless didn't go ahead, British Intelligence used the basis of the idea on more than one occasion for example nabbing a German U-boat, getting below before the captain could skuttle it, retrieving the Enigma codes and then blowing it up so the crew thought they went down with the sub. |
