Now on the CBn main page...
It's all bullocks about the "gangs story". There were demonstrations that had nothing to do with gangs (labor agreement with the construction companies; nothing remotely related to gangs or the james bond movie) . Filming was stopped for half a day because of this, but there were no bullets flying around the streets of the city. A police office did shoot a person in another province of panama, far, far away from panama city. I am from Panama and really feel bad for lousy tabloid newspapers trying to spin stories to make a buck. |

It's a pretty sad reflection on the state of journalism that the press have to make up something which could be potentially damaging to the global view of a country. It's one thing making up crazy casting rumours, but to give the impression that the Bond crew are in serious danger of their life is totally something else, in my opinion.
Glad to see that these reports are largely exaggerated. |

It's one thing to say stuff like DC can't drive a car with a gear stick but to make out that the crew are in serious danger and in the middle of gang warfare is another. The Daily Star ran the headline this morning of '007 Craig in fatal gunfight' which when you actually read the story was about the Union worker that Bondrules points out was in a completely different region of Panama. Sickening really. This post has been edited by jimbo bond 007: 16 February 2008 - 18:17 ![]() |

The Star's story, which by the way is its front page item (!), is ludicrous. It implies that Craig and co. are constantly being fired upon and dodging bullets as they go about their work on set. And the headline they use (which is something like "007 star Craig in fatal shootout") and the prominence they give it has probably even suggested to hundreds of Brits today that Craig was actually killed!
What's slightly more interesting, though, is that the story is illustrated within the paper by a B&W copy of a poster showing Craig pointing a gun, with the words on the poster reading something along the lines of "Daniel Craig in Marc Forster's QUANTUM OF SOLACE". Hadn't seen this poster before and would simply assume it to be fan art, only it's pretty decent. And it would be interesting if QOS is being marketed as Marc Forster's QOS, marking the first time on a Bond film that the director has been given such prominence. |

Bond film producers set the record straight
Last week a rather nasty story came out in the British press that the film crews were being robbed and hassled by gangsters in the old town. Read the story at La Prensa. "It's not true that we have had some big problem in Panama," said Barbara Broccoli, a producer of the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, which is being filmed at several locations in Panama. Broccoli, together with producers Callum McDougall and Michael G. Wilson went on to say that they were never attacked by a gang here, as was reported last weekend by the British Daily Star. Wilson joked that the only thing he had lost in the last few days was "cheese." Broccoli, who is the daughter of legendary producer Albert R. Broccoli, creator of the James Bond film saga, said they are very happy in Panama. "Everyone is very friendly and helpful. . .it's a beautiful country, and the government has offered us its collaboration," she added. Quantum of Solace is the 22nd James Bond film. |

I've seen that poster before somewhere (sorry can't find a link) so I'm pretty sure it is fan art. If they can't even get the story right why should they use an original poster!!
Interesting I was with my sister in law this morning when I brought the paper and her first reaction was 'What, Daniel Craig's been shot?'. Well done Daily Star lets make a mountain out of a mole hill. ![]() |
