Chilean newspaper La Tercera reported today on location scoutings for QOS here in the country. For those who can't read Spanish, it states that Stillking Films, the Czech cpmpany that co-produced CR, is scouting locations in the Chilean region of Antofagasta in the Atacama desert. Shooting would start on March 23rd and would last "no more than ten days". Stillking are not allowed to disclose further details until authorised by EON. It should be noted that the world's biggest open copper mine, Chuquicamata, is located in the region. http://latercera.cl/medio/articulo/0,0,325...1563665,00.html |

They translate 'Quantum of Solace' as 'Una cuota de consuelo', interesting...
When talking about locations, they mention that Panama will be Bolivia in fact, but Peru and the chilean Atacama Dessert will star as themselves, so Bond would travel to Haiti, Bolivia, Peru and Chile (without counting Italy or Austria). They also mention that the film had some footage shot in Madrid from this past August, which was denied by Sony Releasing Spain. After googling for Antofagasta, I've discovered that the city looks like paradise on its beaches and mixes old and new architectures. Nice place to shoot in. Even though, they seem to be more interested on the desert around that zone. So, March 23rd, Bond travels to Chile. This post has been edited by _Ozu_: 3 February 2008 - 13:26 ![]() << 007 SPAIN >>

That's a nice title. Translating "Una Cuota de Consuelo" to Portuguese, it'll be like "Uma Cota De Consolo" or "Uma Parcela De Consolo", which means in english "Piece Of Confort", or something like it.
I'm organazing a Poll in the the brazilian James Bond Comunity, looking for some cool Portuguese Titles to be used as the translated title. I've already contacted Columbia Pictures and they gave me the green light to listing some titles then send to them. xxx ![]() ![]() Daniel Craig É James Bond 007 De Ian Fleming em 007 - QUANTUM OF SOLACE Visit: 007Brazil - The James Bond Brazillian Official Community |

Very interesting news. Some great photos of the Paranal Residencia here. The interiors appear to be very reminiscent of the Eden Project, as used in DIE ANOTHER DAY.
Ahh this is quite cool, an article from the BBC in July 2006, describes the Residencia as "resembling a cross between a Bond villain's hide-out and a university hall of residence"! |

According to La Tercera, Craig will be arriving on the 24th. He will be staying in Antofagasta, where there will be a press conference but shooting will take place in Puerto Cobija, Estación Baquedano and Observatorio Paranal.
Antofagasta is not glamorous enough for a Bond movie. Some buildings in the centre of town speak of distant wealthy days when the mining industry was in the hands of the British (the toen includes the only true example of Victorian architecture outside the UK) but they are dillapidated. That's probably the reason why Panama doubled Bolivia. It's been assumed by the press at large that Chile will not double for another country but from what little is known of the script, Green is helping General Medrano back into power of some yet unnamed country. US movie policies apparently forbids from directly mentioning Latin American countries unflatteringly (suggesting corrupt military and attempts at coups). |
