Now on the CBn main page...
Some confirmation of rumours that have been floating about in the last few days from James Bond Web Italia that it appears the pre-title sequence of QUANTUM OF SOLACE will certainly involve a car chase around the shores of Lake Garda: The James Bond cast will be in Malcesine, in the province of Verona, from 15-21 April to shoot some breathtaking scenes between the resorts of Malcesine, Tempesta and Navene. The Veronese area has been chosen by the production as the location for the opening scene of the movie. There will be a pursuit at speeds of up to 200 km/h with overtaking and manoeuvres in a series of tunnels meaning that motorists and a truck will struggle to avoid the incident ultimately leading to an explosion at the end of the scene. This is therefore the spectacular scene from "Quantum of Solace" that will be carried out on Lake Garda. The production will then move to Limone in order to film a different part of the pursuit. |

Interesting. Presumably, the PTS will include the following (I'm putting this in spoiler tags as an extra precaution, especially as it reveals a plot detail that many would doubtless rather not know about):
![]() So I guess that the days of the very long, very action-crammed PTS are well and truly back. I don't see how the above could be brought it at under 10-15 minutes. Eat your heart out, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. |

Yup, though I'm actually thinking the car chase takes place prior to the rooftop stuff.
One very long, beefy PTS. I suppose that the PTS could be brought in about 8 minutes or so, depending on how long each section takes. ![]() |

Well, I suppose it is possible there are two separate scenes. A pre-title sequence with the car chase, and then the Siena rooftop chase following the art gallery scene.
But then again, probably not, since it was indicated in the MGW interview that the car chase heads into the streets of Siena, and then leads into the rooftop chase. ![]() |

I'd always assumed we'd get another short, mood-setting PTS and that the Siena chase was slightly later in the film. Post-credits action perhaps, a la CR.

Perhaps the car chase will be away from Mr White's villa around the banks of the lake. Bond has Mr White in his car trying to take him to Siena for further interrogation, and is chased by several of his organisation. Then after the title sequence, the movie opens on the interrogation leading to the chase sequence across Siena.

I could see the car chase - turning into a foot chase - easily as the first action sequence in the film. If you compare it time wise to the African Rundown sequence of Casino Royale (6 min 52 seconds) and break it into halves (car chase equals rundown in CR and footchase equal embassy shootout in CR) it's comprable.
It would actually be a killer opening IMHO. |
