Now on the CBn main page...
Back in 2006 before Casino Royale even premiered, Craig mentioned that the organization behind Le Chiffre wanted to "destabilise the world with money." Now, in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Craig revealed that the villains of Bond 22 are planning to "destabilise the world's economy because they want to take it over." He also mentions there is no title yet and that there is a connection between Vesper and Mathieu Amalric's character. My educated guess is an attack on the Panama Canal, which would cripple the Atlantic/Pacific trade route and probably relaunch ownership tensions over the Neutral Zone. We already know they're filming in Colon province and capital, both of which lay on the canal route. Any other ideas? ![]() |

Interesting stuff. It's funny, I'd always assumed that having read CR prior to the film would ruin my enjoyment of it, but knowing a good amount of details about plot and character beforehand (essentially, the whole thing) didn't even seem to affect my experience. It's nice to be back to a fresh, original story again. As much as I loved seeing Fleming on screen, that is:).

Haha just don`t read the script beforehand, huge mistake.

LOL, "Half monk, half hitman"...
We've heavily seen Craig dressed in his hitman outfit, if you wan to see him in his monk outfit, just look at the first pic in this Rotten tomatoes interview http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/casino_royale/news/1702751/ ![]() The Mercurius Affair: A James Bond novella - A tribute to Ian Fleming's creation

Pretty nice interview. Sounds like it is Amalric and not Taubman who may indeed be the boyfriend... but who knows?

I smell Spectre! No that smell is "lawyers" I wouldnt expect any old school SPECTRE. The economic angle seems more obvious now and none of us jumped on it so far. We've all been worried about the boyfriend and revenge. Craig seems very positive about the script and progress so happy about that... and oh yeah to all that assumed that just because it takes place in Central America that it has to involve drugs (namely the drug plot from Risico) step back and, for me, breath relief because it doesnt sound like that is the focus. whew Remember Haggis said something to the effect of "Fleming like" but NOT based on any Fleming material. I'm hoping the plot doesn't involve drugs, because that's been done before. |

My educated guess is an attack on the Panama Canal, which would cripple the Atlantic/Pacific trade route and probably relaunch ownership tensions over the Neutral Zone. . . Any other ideas? Interesting extrapolation on the Bosphorus irridation plot twist of TWINE, Zographos...but it needs a "British angle" if James Bond of Her Majesty's Secret Service is to get involved. In TWINE, we have a British heiress in danger after her father is killed at MI6...so it makes some sense...I don't see Panama Canal being the focal point unless Bond comes upon the attack plot as a result of leads requiring his presence on a more plausable mission. My own opinion is that he travels to Latin America/Panama/Bolivia in the body of the movie and the primary plot point is resolved somewhere in Europe (floating stage in Austria?) |
