"Bregenz will be Bregenz". Very cool. I'm glad that we get to see Bond in Austria once more. I'll be over on the continent later in the year so will have to try and visit the location. Sounds like quite an extended shoot planned for Bregenz, so will be interesting to hear what they come up with!

Nobody can guess really exactly HOW funny it is for me, that the name of Feldkirch pops up as real filming location.. Let me explain..:

When I started 'On the tracks of 007' on the internet back in 1995 (or 'the James Bond locations page' as it was originally called), I started compiling a list of known filming locations from whatever sources were available. And there weren't very many in those days.. Steven Rubin's book 'The James Bond Films' (1981) was one of them, and it listed Feldkirsch (in Switzerland) as a location for OHMSS. So without checking it, I published it online in my list of locations.

It wasn't until someone wrote me that he wanted to travel to Switzerland, but couldn't find the place on a map, that I noticed Rubin had been totally wrong. In the later years of research and travelling it turned out that no scene had been filmed there for OHMSS, AND there wasn't even a town called Feldkirsch in Switzerland at all. The only place that came near was Feldkirch, but it was in Austria, so definitely no filming for OHMSS has been done there.. I quickly removed it from my Bond Locations Page.

The funny thing is that in those days SO many people just bluntly copied my locations list and presented it on their own website as their work. Up until today, every now and then I google for the word Feldkirsch, just to see how many people still use that old list online. (Fortunately not many anymore as I kindly requested most of them to start make up their own stuff..)

And now it all comes to a full circle again, when Austria's Feldkirch becomes a location for Bond 22..

Darn, looks like I'll miss it by a few weeks. I'll be touring Switzerland from March 9-17.

I wonder if any CBn members will get lucky and have a story to share with us about being an extra. Erniecureo's story about being an extra in Casino Royale was definately a highlight of the wait for the movie to come out.

I want to be an extra, but I'm underage - by one year Oh well.... maybe next year . I hope we see some Skiing action by Mr. Craig.

We won't. Daniel Craig has stated that Austria doesn't mean skiing, and see, scenes will be shot at the end of April / beginning of May. Even in Austria, it's not snow anymore. Additionally, Marc Forster has said that the script has gone into a different direction concerning Switzerland in terms of location, which means: no mountains, no snow. In Austria they shoot on the shores of a lake. No mountains.
