A split personality? Are we going to have Bond turning into a paranoid schizophrenic or something? That part of the interview quite worries me.

On the other hand, good we've had confirmation of the actors. I know the German he's talking about though and I think Ganz would've done a good job as a villian. I don't know Taubman, so I'll just have to hope he's good.

Does anyone know any films he's been in?

Actually it's that part of the interview that excites me most. We are still witnessing the evolution of the James Bond character, and hopefully this may present an opportunity to include unused aspects of the novels 'You Only Live Twice' and 'The Man With the Golden Gun'.

Split personality.

Double 'O' Seven

I think that the movie will definetely be called 007 aka Double 'O' Seven, and that some kind of brainwashing ala MWTGG is part of the plot. Time will tell, but I'm excited already, especially if it appears there will be a scene where 007 tries to kill M !

So why not sign Bruno Ganz first then...?!!! He could've been a fantastic villain!

I've never seen Mathieu Amalric but he looks too young and too dapper for me (gives me bad Gustav-Graves-vibes).

Bruno Ganz is the highest profile German language actor (he's actually Swiss), he was even before he played Hitler. He still is mainly a theatre guy, and I doubt that he'd even remotely think about touching anything like Bond. Chances would be better if they tried to get Hopkins or DeNiro.

Doesn't DOUBLESHOT feature a Bond with a split personality? Haven't read it, so I may be wrong. Still, good points as ever, stamper, and, yes, I'll be surprised if the film isn't called 007.

But I do wish Forster would stop knocking exotic locations. Some of us are still interested in a globetrotting Bond, and don't feel that travel - whether in films or in real life - has become terribly boring and commonplace and so much part of the regular routine of the average Joe that it's almost embarrassing for 007 to be doing it.

I think Foster is just speaking the same language we head before regarding bond, ie that travel to exotic places is not enough to carry a whole movie (early ones had this interesting thing where they would translate a mundane plot into a wild, colorful setting, making all the difference).
Whatever happens in the next, I'm sure we will get truckloads of shots just like in CR, arkin back to TB and such, in far location, but they will not be the main attraction, just cherry on the cake.

Hmmm.... but Ganz is hardly a name outside Europe. I'm still surprised that the likes of Craig, Green, Haggis and Forster were prepared to do Bond, so perhaps we shouldn't rule Ganz out (in the future, I mean; I realise that he's not in the frame for BOND 22).

Your mentioning of Hopkins and De Niro reminds me that BOND 22 is shaping up to be another "star"-free affair, unless they're about to announce Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie or Catherine Zeta-Jones as the "Latina" leading lady. I imagine it'll be a little-known actress, but you never know.

I guess the casting of a big name like Berry in DIE ANOTHER DAY was always very much the exception and not the rule, but the Bond series, like the Bourne franchise, is currently doing an admirable job of showing that blockbusters don't have to have all-star casts to do well.

I wouldn't bet my grandma's wig on it.
Seriously doubt it'll happen.

You're reading too much into this.

Possibly. I'd be more than happy with that title, though. And stamper and I were discussing it as a title option for BOND 22 many months ago here on CBn, long before Craig's and Forster's recent cryptic comments. (I'm not saying, by the way, that that makes it more likely that we're right, just that fandom has long been mulling over 007 as a potential title for the second in the BOND BEGINS series.)

Who knows, though? Not me (and I realise that the place to discuss 007 as a rumoured title isn't this thread). smile.gif

You may have a point there - with Bond, anything is possible.
