Can foreigners get an OBE? That was my initial reaction too. I knew members of the Commonwealth could, but wasn't sure about US citizens. Perhaps they both have British citizenship now... I'm happy to make them honorary Commonwealthians. ![]() |

Can foreigners get an OBE? That was my initial reaction too. I knew members of the Commonwealth could, but wasn't sure about US citizens. Perhaps they both have British citizenship now... Well I'd imagine they do have citizenship, they've been here so long; but even if they don't foreigners can have honourary, er, honours. Bob Geldof and Steven Spielberg are two examples of honourary knighthoods; not being British they don't call themselves Sir Bob and Sir Steven, however. Well done Michael and Barbara, though- that's rather pleasant news. |
