Awesome news- that's such a great song. I would have liked it even if it weren't a Bond theme!

Fantastic article. Well done - very interesting and insightful. I agree. Great to see a history of Bond and the Grammys. It's also great to see a major Bond expert like Greg Bechtloff contributing to CBn. I think this is an online first for Greg. ![]() ![]() "Fandom is where people come together and complain about what they like." Fantastic article. Well done - very interesting and insightful. I agree. Great to see a history of Bond and the Grammys. Same here. I wasn't aware that Casino Royale'67 and Live and Let Die had the number of nominations that they did. ![]() |

I've personally never been absolutely in love with it (although there are a few standouts on the soundtrack), but that does seem to be the general consensus. ![]() |

I'm suprised TLD never had any grammy nominations. Good luck to Cornell and YKMN.

Fantastic article. Well done - very interesting and insightful. I agree. Great to see a history of Bond and the Grammys. It's also great to see a major Bond expert like Greg Bechtloff contributing to CBn. I think this is an online first for Greg. I guess Greg doesn't post in the threads, huh. I still fondly remember my trip out to Santa Monica back in summer of 2000 and meeting Zencat and Greg. I remember Greg had an amazing amount of unused, first/rough draft artwork for TWINE that he let us look at. Anyway... I think this whole Grammy's nomination cycle is a bit odd. Music that was released in 2006 *may* win an award in 2008? Very confusing. And I find it a bit disturbing that Madonna could have even been nominated for DAD but, then again, this is the same organization that rewarded Milli Vanilli with an award for Best New Artist. Looking back on some of the music...I've always felt that The Pretender's contributions to the soundtrack for TLD have often been underappreciated. Where Has Everybody Gone is a major rocking tune, and If There Was a Man is the kind of sappy love ballad that the Oscars usually go for come nominating time, so it was a bit jarring to see that neither song got any love from any of the awards organizations. And even the Bond fans don't talk about those songs very much. Was there ever any explanation from EON as to why they chose to go with a multi-song soundtrack with at least two different singers/groups starting with TLD? Was it because AVTAK was such a huge worldwide hit that they began to see the power of cross promotion in the music industry, the movie industry, and video music channels (back when VH-1 and MTV used to actually play videos)? They had three different artists for LTK, 2 for GE (if you count Eric Serra's closing song The Experience of Love as music), 2 for TND (actually 3 if you count Moby's remix), 2 for TWINE (but Matt Walker's (?) recording got no promotion whatsoever and was commercially DOA as far as I was concerned) and then went back to one artist for DAD and CR. I've always thought a Bond album should have a couple of different songs and singers. The TOP GUN soundtrack is probably my favorite soundtrack and it's got lots of great songs by a variety of good artists. Too bad EON has never really chosen to go that route. ![]() -----------------------------------------------------

I'd at least like to see a return to a main and end title song performed by two different singers/groups that was the deal from The Living Daylights through Tomorrow Never Dies. I guess I can understand them deciding whether a song would be included or not (such as Scott Walker's "Only Myself to Blame"), but with |
