The story on Empire Online can be found through this link here.

Amalric would not be drawn on details of the character, but said that, yes, he will play the bad guy in the 22nd Bond movie. "I will, it’s true. I play the villain, yes. James Bond," Amalric said. "It has to do with childhood, you know? To be a villain in James Bond is just so funny. I never dreamt about that. It’s not what I want to do with my career. It’s just that I have kids and it’s so funny to do that. But it doesn’t mean that I’m not going to do a very small French film for free with my friends.”

Good call. He's quite a creepy actor. Quite slimey, but not overly unattractive either. It may have to be credible that Eva Green has been in the sack with him - assuming he is the Algerian boyfriend. Now, is Max Von Sydow correct or was he just speaking generally...? I actually think a revisionist BLOFELD could be quite necessary in a new Bond film.

I am happy to hear about Mathieu Amalric. I really liked him in "MUNICH".

Why would a revisionist BLOFELD be necessary in a new Bond film?

I like the choice. He seems pretty giddy about it, even if it's off his usual course.

"One day, and he accepted the fact, he would be brought to his knees by love or by luck. When that happened he knew he too would be branded with the deadly question-mark he recognized so often in others, the promise to pay before you have lost: the acceptance of fallibility." -Casino Royale, by Ian Fleming

Hmm, that's interesting. Don't remember him that well from Munich, but he could definitely do 'slightly slimy yet slightly hot French-Algerian'. Not sure about
him playing Blofeld, mind, but that's assuming that he'd be Fleming's Blofeld.
I'll wait and see on this one, but sounds alright for now!

Goldfinger is forevaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!

I love you James, 'cause you're rugged and tough, you gave me the world, but the world's not enough...

Didn't Benson's Le Gerant have Corsican/North African roots?

Austria for the mountain climbing; Panama for the opening scenes ostensibly set in Bermuda.

God's knob, they're making High Time to Kill!

RUN!
