Report also lists Panamanian shooting locations for 'Bond 22'

I'll try to translate the original article to English:

It's not a secret that some scenes from the new Bond film will be shot at various locations in Panama, and lots of people will be needed.

The oportunity to get into the silver screen has finally arrived. Today in 'Teatro la Quadra' from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. casting for the extras will be done.

You'll have to dress comfortably and without add-ons such as necklaces. Locations where the shootings will take place are 'El casco antiguo' (The old city? Don't really know how to translate it), Colón and la Bahía (the Bay).

Film producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli came to Panama several months ago and were impressed by the beautiful pana..menian? (sorry, I'm not too keen on Panama when it's english-related) backgrounds.

The film's premiere is programmed to be on November 7th 2008.

Daniel Craig will star again as agent 007, and they're still looking for the new 'Bond girl', portrayed long ago by famous actresses as Ursula Andress, Kim Basinger, Jane Seymour, Halle Berry and Denise Richards. Even if you're not an actor you can try at the casting.

Here is another article about it with a photo of the El Casco Antiguo area in Panama.

Wow cool. Loving the look of the old town. Looking forward to more news!

Also, the town of Colón as referred to in the article is very close to the Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal apparently. I wonder if the canal could actually feature in BOND 22.

I immediately thought of the canal when I first heard the news about Panama, plus it made me think of a scene in Lawrence of Arabia.

My thinking is that if they are going all the way to Panama for filming, it would be a waste not to use the canal in at least some capacity. It's an extraordinary piece of engineering.

Do you think it could be the scene of a terrorist attack in the movie?

I suppose that's certainly an idea! Rather depressingly, that would probably be the easiest way to incorporate it into the movie...

Yes, it seems pretty obvious. Sounds like the final scenes will be in Panama to me. The movie could begin in Italy and move to Austria before heading to Panama? I keep imagining a shot over the canal, reminiscent of the aerial view of Bond fighting baddies on the ship in YOLT.

I do like the idea of a major action sequence being shot on the Panama Canal. It would cause so much disruption, but if anyone can get permission to do so, it would be the Bond franchise!
