http://www.indyfilmco-op.org/index.php?ind...le&ide=3580 Zach Helm: ...We used the same visual effects supervisor Kevin Haug, a genius, and so Kevin has gone from Than Fiction quot; to this movie to "Kite Runner" and now he's doing "Bond." I've heard quite a few of the details, and it's pretty exciting actually... but I'm good at keeping a secret, too. (chuckles) I just hope we see some miniatures. Steve Begg's work on the last film defined exactly how Bond VFX should look, routed in his mentor Derek Meddings' pioneering work. Historically, this makes Kevin Todd Haug the first ever credited American visual effects supervisor on a Bond film, or technically the second as Bill Neil oversaw half of TOMORROW NEVER DIES before Mara Bryan took over (but he only got an end credit). Of course, all of the matte paintings for DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER were overseen at Universal Studios, American Jim Danforth did the exploding submarine in that film and Gustav Graves death in DIE ANOTHER DAY was done at the now defunct Cinesite LA. Regardless, this is all trivial... Haug did very good work overseeing the British effects houses on FINDING NEVERLAND, and I'd be very suprised if tax reasons don't chain him to them on Bond 22. Most importantly, Haug has worked with Marc Forster extensively on previous projects, so that helps the comfort factor (and this one has a very short delivery deadline from what has been posted on other forums). |

Re-watched CASINO ROYALE a couple of days ago, and was once again extremely impressed with the miniature work (particularly in the Venice sequence). I'll be very interested to see how this turns out.

I always get pleasantly surprised about how many British people work on the Bond movies. I know it makes sense because production is usually based at Pinewood but it's always nice to see that there are still talented people in Britain working on these movies.

I agree on both counts. I watched it two weekends ago on Blu-ray (first time on this format) & was pleasantly surprised at how well everything looked in high def. ![]() ![]() |

I quite agree! The miniature work on the Skyfleet prototype was also top notch. ![]() ![]() "switch the bloody machine off!!!" |

Anyone have any opinions on this Haug guy? I don't really know his work, or whether it even matters!

He seems to have worked on some pretty solid films in the past (looks like David Fincher uses him a lot as well).
