Crack open the champagne! This is the best news ever! Who will write? Possibly Higson as he will have finished writing the young Bond books. He stated a while back that he wouldn't be writing the adult book as he was to busy with the young Bond novels. I hope they won't be set in modern times, i.e. post Benson.
As much as I'd like to see stories about Bond when he's in his 30's and 40's working for the SIS, I would also love to read yarns about his adventures during the war. Maybe expansions of Pearson's stories. Mr Higson, if you're reading this, I think you'd do a fine job writing stories about Bond's war time adventures with an adult tone and language. I've almost finished Hurricane Gold and I am really enjoying it. I like what you did with the Manny character and his archilles heel. |

Higson makes a brief mention that Ian Fleming Publications (IFP) are planning more adult James Bond books in the future.
IFP is always planning new books in the future. It's a matter of if they happen or not. I'll save my excitement. I'll wait till there's movement on the project. ![]() I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine. - Ayn Rand

At least!
I'd like to see two types of adult Bond books: - some set in the 50s/60s, in the pure Fleming style - some set nowadays, mixing some features of the literary 007 and of the movies Bond. But I'm afraid this could be done only if there are several official writers! ![]() The Mercurius Affair: A James Bond novella - A tribute to Ian Fleming's creation
Maybe I won't change the world. But the world won't change me. |

Charlie has repeatedly hinted that while he's done with Young Bond after Book 5, he may not be done with James Bond. I'm almost certain we will see an adult James Bond book from Charlie Higson in the near future.
A quote from our latest interview: And, obviously, over the years the question of adult Bond books has come up in discussions with Ian Fleming Publications. Just in conversation. And, you know, I thought, “Well, could I pull it off?” Re his adult Bond postscript in DoD: I thought, “Well, let’s try just to have a little glimpse of adult Bond.” It was quite fun writing, actually, because I could call him “Bond”, rather than “James”. I did at that point start thinking, you know, it might be fun to write an adult Bond novel after all. ![]() |

I did know about this at the time; my chum who was there didn't mention this, but I suppose it didn't strike him as being very interesting. The whole thing wasn't that great he said:

The whole thing wasn't that great he said: http://debrief.commanderbond.net/index.php...c=35318&hl= Is he a Bond fan? After reading the KKBB transcript, I can't believe a Bond fan would say that because it is filled with GOLD. But it was such inside baseball talk, it could have gone over the head of a casual fan. Arnold said Bond 22 would be a direct continuation of CR. I don't think anyone knew that back then. Charlie also revealed the locations for YB4 and YB5. I thought my interview with Charlie was the first time The Alps were named as the YB5 locale. Nope. The news was out there for almost a year. ![]() |

No; he isn't a Bond fan, so you can see why some of those details might not have been too mind-blowing. If they'd said that the next Bond would be Gordon Brown he might have noticed, but he expected it to be more about keeping the sound and video design fresh after all these years, which it was supposed to be but wasn't apparently. As I understand it was more of an industry lecture than a fan event.
Wish I could read the transcript but I've feeling you have to pay, do you? |

Well, you have to buy the mag, yes. But I believe you can find KKBB in some stores in the UK, can't you? I know some comic book stores carry it here. It's well worth it. And you can always subscribe.
