I'd stumbled across this article (dated 2002) on CBn a few times and thought I'd update it with a discussion thread for those who have missed it. With that, Rory Couper's:

Interesting article. When I first saw LIVE AND LET DIE, the presence of Baron Samedi at the end scared me (I was a kid at the time). But whenever I see it now, there is something about his prescene at the end that made the movie very unique.

I concur. I too was a child the first time I saw it (not too young though), and it is strange but the creepiness stayed with me for sometime. When I see it now though I don't know whether to laugh, though there is something stopping me.

The Baron Samedi at the back of the train situation really was strange. Supernatural elements in a Bond film are unheard of. It really made you think about what was going on in the film.

This was the only Bond film that I was a bit scared of watching when I was younger. All the voodoo scenes were very scary. Today I still prefer Live and Let Die to any other Moore Bond film, because of it's uniqueness. I would however almost kill to see Fleming original made the way it should be.

I watched LALD last weekend and i thoroughly enjoyed as i hadnt seen it for so long.

It has a dark storyline to it but it is filmed in a 'feel good factor' way.
Also, because of the voodoo aspect of it there is always a hint of menace in it...
It has climbed from 15th to 11th in my Bond list at the moment.

Voodoo associated with menace. That is a bit odd. I
