I've had a look at the table of content (http://www.moutons-electriques.com/livre.php?p=index&n=36), it seems quite interesting. I kind of like the apparent mix of analytic essays and literary short stories (if my understanding of the ToC is correct).

A side-tracked question: doesn't this editor need an acknowledgment of the Fleming literary rights owners to publish short stories featuring the James Bond character??

Apparement pas.
Funny what you can do in other languages, isn't it? I think they'd argue fair use or parody. And the above, at least, is also extremely short. ![]() Author of the Cold War spy thriller FREE AGENT THE DARK AGE BEGINS MAY 5 2009 |

I am one of the contributors, I wrote the short story "L'homme qui gagnait au casino" (The man who was winning at the casino). The short stories are not James Bond short stories per se. They are not la Fleming. They are tributes where Bond is either unamed or is met in singular circumstances or is meeting himself other famous pop culture characters. The editor was careful in having stories that would ring a bell for James Bond lovers, and yet would not infringe upon any copyright.
It would seem easy for me to advertise the book, but I will -- I discovered some of the content when I got my copy and I can tell you it is quite an original take on the character. You will have to understand French to really appreciate it but here is my comment for the collectors: I have to say the book itself is quite a nice item. ![]() "Now you're on this, I hope we're going to have some gratuitous sex and violence."

I wonder what the chances are of a translated version being published, like The Bond Affair that was edited by Umberto Eco.

I'm one of the contributors too. I wrote the short story L'ennemi de mes ennemis (My Enemys Enemy).
The publisher told me today there is no chance that this book could be translated in english as US and GB publishers generally don't translate James Bond books from other languages (The Bond Affait, the Oreste del Buono and Umberto Eco book being the exception that confirms the rule). So you'll have to buy it in french. But it is really a nice de luxe book full of pictures (more than 300) and 360 pages long. It will be a wonderful collector on your James bond bookshelves This post has been edited by Cesari: 6 November 2007 - 06:30 ![]() Whisper of love, whisper of hate
