QUOTE (click here to view the particularly striking cover design by Sarry Long). Striking? I suppose that's somewhat accurate. It strikes me as the worst Bond cover design I've ever seen. When I saw it in small icon form at the top of the article, before I scrolled down to see it full-sized, I simply thought it was a generic icon like the various ones used on the main page of this site. Bland, drab, and aesthetically displeasing. ![]() Numbers 4 and 5 were Mr and Mrs Du Pont, rich-looking and might or might not have some of the real Du Pont money behind them. Bond guessed they would be stayers. They both had a business-like look about them and were talking together easily and cheerfully as if they felt very much at home at the big game. Bond was quite happy to have them next to him...

Looks like France is trying to keep a consistent look. I bet Moonraker will have silhouettes and similar colors.

I don't care about the cover, but these novels are "re"translated, and the translation is in my opinion the worst ever made of Ian Fleming stuff.
Imagine if Goldfinger the movie was re-edited to have swoosh motion camera effects like in the Matrix movies, and you get the feeling of the new translation. I'll go hunt down the original, which are likely to raise in price now that they are destroying Fleming work in France. Thank you. ![]() "MATT DAMON IS JASON BOURNE".

Love that cover, right up my alley with what I like design-wise. I would get a poster of that for my wall.

To make them more palatable to modern audiences, apparently, when all it would have taken is just "fix" a few lines and words there and there in the original translations.
Oh, I hate the covers too, especially the font employed, totally amateur looking. ![]() "MATT DAMON IS JASON BOURNE".
