The Hollywood Reporter has an interview with Roberto Schaefer, the cinematographer on every movie Marc Forster has directed, about The Kite Runner. The article ends with - QUOTE Schaefer is teaming with Forster again on the next film in the James Bond franchise. The cinematographer is location scouting for the tentatively titled "Bond 22," for which shooting is being planned in the U.K., South America and Italy. Production is scheduled to begin on or around Dec. 10.

i think it is good since it will obviously be somebody who understands forster's vision for the film since they have worked together so many times before.

I take a demented sort of pleasure in being able to say that the cinematographer for "Waiting For Guffman" is about to lens Bond 22.

I must say, I'm feeling good about this one. Like with CR, I think they're making all the right moves again. |

That Hollywood Reporter piece is inspiring.
I think i'm going to have to check out this Kite Runner movie. Eon seem to have chosen a dp and a director who seem to have experience in seamlessly integrating "epic" with "personal"...just what Bond 22 ought to be. Plus this Roberto chap seems like he has partly a latin background which should be somewhat of a plus given the locations thus far revealed (Italy, Spain and South America.) Thumbs up! Hmmm, I wouldn’t have minded seeing some more 'visually based’ films with breathtaking vistas in that list. But I’m sure the cinematographer has more to do than just find the best angle for shooting the Eiffel Tower.
For me, this addition comes down to whether I trust Forster or not, since Schaefer is obviously Forster’s boy of this decade. I think I do, so no issues. ![]() ![]() |

Wonderful. I have really liked the cinematography of Forster's films thus far, and I'm glad he's keeping with the man he's developed a close partnership with. I can't wait to see what they do with BOND 22.

Not surprised there. Most directors have their regular cinematographer and Schaefer is Forster's regular. Although I would prefer someone with more of an action background (names like Wally Pfister and Roger Pratt are two that I would love to see work on a Bond), but it's nice to see that Forster has some respect for the people he's worked with in the past (even if he doesn't have any for the Bond regulars, who seem to be dropping like flies).
