From today's Daily Express: For almost half a century, James Bond has swept women off their feet in his sharp suit, shiny shoes and a crisp white shirt. But future Bond Girls could be disappointed when the superspy appears in jeans and a T-shirt. Producers on the 22nd Bond film said suits by Italian tailor Brioni will not match Daniel Craig's next look. A spokeswoman for Brioni, who dressed Craig for Casino Royale said the star would be in more casual attire for the 2008 film. The company has made Bond suits for 13 years, starting with Pierce Brosnan in Goldeneye. Sorry, no link available. Didn't this kind of rumour do the rounds when they were talking about CR? Anyway, make of it what you will. This post has been edited by [dark]: 18 September 2007 - 11:40 ![]() Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Yeah, Daniel Craig originally said 007 would not wear a tux in Casino Royale.

Tim Daltons bond was pretty casual, but he was neat as well, i dont mind the dressing down , as long as it is stylish.

No problem with me. Dalton got around pretty casually, as did Connery. He is a mixture of those two portrayals so no big deal.
The man is furious and seething venom, the clothes have to reflect his personality while still being carefree and cool. ![]() |

This is nonsense. Don't believe anything the Express says; if the story doesn't involve Diana or Madeline they're not interested.

Yeah why not, he spent a lot of time in the tux in CR. If location rumors of South America and the alps are true, then a suit probably isn't the first choice of attire for either. I like Craig's casual Bond look in the Bahamas casino and Venice scenes, let's have some more of that.
Love how the article instantly interprets 'no Brioni suits' as 'Bond will wear jeans and a t-shirt' |

One of the more subtle successes of CR was Craig wearing the same clothes twice, in different settings.
This contrasted nicely with the new-suit-for-every-scene excess of Brozza's reign. And in those differing approaches, who reflected Bond more, I would ask? |

What this really means is that Brioni have been dropped as the suit tailors for Bond 22 and that Bond will be wearing someone else’s suits. (Good)
The Brioni spokesperson is just spinning it out as “dressed more casual” so that is why they wont be involved, obviously the real reason is that a new tailor has been selected and will be announced shortly, and they are getting in first to save a bit of face. That said, he probably will look a bit more casual in the film as well. (My own oracle is whispering to me now.) I would be willing to bet that the suits end up coming from Kilgour. I hope M gives Bond a good dressing down over the phone about what the hell he is up to regarding his personal vendetta.

I wouldn't take this story too literally. BOND on the Alps....? Bond in Spain...? Bond in Italy....? There's no way he won't be suited in some shape or form... after all, remember how he was dressed two minutes before BOND 22 is allgedly meant to begin...

Everything is relative. There is no need for Bond to wear a Brioni suit in every scene. In fact there's no need for Bond to wear Brioni in particular at all. There's also no need for Bond to wear a dinner jacket in every movie. What is important is that, where it makes sense, Bond should be well dressed. Where it doesn't make sense a torn and bloody t-shirt is perfectly alright (Dr No anyone?).
Personally I don't think Bond should come near a casino in B22 - doesn't mean that there'll be no need for formal attire, but it certainly limits the scope for it. ![]() ![]() |

One of the more subtle successes of CR was Craig wearing the same clothes twice, in different settings. Did he? I can't think of any; what were those? As for Bond dressing casually; I'm all for it. A suit in every situation is silly, but the idea of him not appearing looking sharp at any point is ridiculous. Besides, even when the new Bond dresses down, he still looks sharp. |

OK, Markt, for those with sharo eyes Pants worn in M's apartment same as those in balcony scene with Mathis. Pants worn in Ocean Club casino same as those at Miami airport. Beige pants worn on return to Ocean Club same as those on boat at end Suit from train scene same as that worn the following day on arriavl at Hotel Splendide (with change of tie and shirt) Grey T shirt in Miami airport same as that worn on arrival in Venice Shawl cardigan on balcony with Mathis same as that worn on boat at the end. The might not be exactly the same though I suspect they were, and the intention is pretty clear, as a direct contrast to Mr Brosnan's travelling wardrobe. |
