Is this a working gun? It got me thinking, based upon a thread I recently started regarding the Bersa 380 and the Walther PPK, would a Brit be allowed to legally own such a gun as is being auctioned here? If so, would they have to fill it with cement (or do something to permanently disable it), or paint the barrel orange, or store it at an government run armory or lock it in a bank vault or let their cousin who is a cop or a govt. agent keep it for them? What would they be allowed to do?

To our friends in England, does your government allow you to even own such things? What about replicas? What would happen if you were a huge Bond fan and wanted to responsibly own a Walther PPK (one like the one being auctioned here)? Could you? If so, what would the restrictions on you be?

WHY "DADDY BOND"? BECAUSE GOD HAS BLESSED ME WITH LOTS OF KIDS. . .006 OF THEM!

I enjoy Bond, but Bond's not my life. . .God is!

It has been 'decommisioned', meaning it is not a working gun. If you look at the photo in the listing it is missing some components.

So can a British citizen own a decommissioned gun?

I wonder if it's the gun he kicks from Locque's hand?

Yeah, I was wondering exactly which Bond films this was from.

Yes, at the moment (as far as I am aware), British citizens may own de-activated/de-commisioned firearms (as well as replicas, blank firers etc), although there is some legislation in the wings that will soon stop Brits from buying or selling these, although they may still hold onto those already in their possesion - if they no longer want them after this date (last I heard, this was set for October this year), they will have to hand them in to the fuzz.

Strange parts to be missing from the auction item: de-cocker/safety catch, and magazine release button - even if I could have afforded it, I would not have bought it in that state.
