MGM doesn't really have to come up with much for Bond 22, I don't think.

The cycle of luciusgore continues. I hope your concerns grow more dire, as that would bode very well for Bond 22. biggrin.gif

But seriously, money is the last issue facing the Bond franchise. Seriously.

I thought Sony would be funding this outing as well?

Daniel Craig is a great 007

MGM... Someone needs to put that "studio" out of it's misery.

I'm sure the money for Bond 22 will "show up". Besides they are co financing the film with Sony.

The credit markets have been in turmoil for a month and central banks in the US and Euroland have stepped in to provide liquidity to the financial systems.

Much of the decline in Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank stock, among others, is a reflection of their involvement in risky investments. But these firms are run by smart individuals and they will dig themselves out of the recent mess as they've done over the decades.

One thing they will do is evalute the risk-return characteristics of each potential investment and the ventures that look marginal will likely have to find more expensive sources of funding.

These will include any venture, including movies, that don't make sense to the Goldmans and Deutsches of the world.

But I think historically James Bond movies have a very strong track record of risk/return payoffs. I'd imagine that a James Bond movie (given how DAD and CR have panned out this decade) would be one of the least risky ventures out there and I suspect that finance organizations and merchant backs would be falling all over themselves to be first in line to provide a credit facility to the production.

I also suspect that Eon along with Sony and others have already locked down the funding for Bond 22.

I'll start worrying when they say they're relocating to Churubusco Studios.

Yeah I can't imagine they'll have problems getting funds for the followup to a movie that earned $590 million at the box office. Nothing to see here.

I can't imaging Bond 22 or even the Hobbit (if directed by Jackson) having any trouble making serious money. Maybe we should pool our money here at Commander Bond to finance the films for a share in the profits? tongue.gif

WHY "DADDY BOND"? BECAUSE GOD HAS BLESSED ME WITH LOTS OF KIDS. . .006 OF THEM!

I enjoy Bond, but Bond's not my life. . .God is!

Maybe MGM trying to get money for another Pink Panther movie is causing all the problems - didn't they watch the first one? If that isn't a sub-prime risk, I'm not sure what is. wink.gif biggrin.gif

Anything other than Bond 22 would be regarded as sub-prime whereas Bond 22 would be considered investment grade. You can bank on that. I'd bet my bottom dollar on it.

Since Bond is the only thing that MGM releases that is of any value whatsoever I am pretty sure they'll make sure it gets made.
