Interesting interview. I like Campbell, but I am glad he isn't doing Bond 22, if his heart was never going to be in it.

Interesting interview. I like Campbell, but I am glad he isn't doing Bond 22, if his heart was never going to be in it. Same here. Am intrigued by his remarks though..."More of the same?" Isnt one of the appeals of the next film for Craig that Bond is going to continue to grow as a character? I can understand Campbell being burnt out on Bond and not wanting to do two films in a row, but come on! Sounds like Bond 22 is definately not going to be more of the same. ![]() |

Nice interview. He's a good chap.
Personally, I'm really glad we got Forster instead of another Campbell outing. Campbell was in top form on CASINO ROYALE, but seeing as how that level of quality seemed the exception in Campbell's career, I wasn't sure he'd give it to us again. ![]() |

I concur fully. Campbell did a topnotch job with CR just because he was excited it was something new, and it doesn't seem like he'd carry that enthusiasm into another new Bond at all, let alone 22. So if CR turns out to be the last Bond movie Martin Campbell ever does, let's be jazzed he went out on that high of a note.

I hope that this almost guarantees deleted scenes on the eventual special edition DVD. As Campbell speculates, some people are indeed fascinated by them!!

It does sounds like deleted scenes are likely- I hope so. I'd really like to see all the stuff they filmed for the pre-credits fight; Bond tailing him into the pavillion, guns being knocked out of hands etc. The BBC British film film thing the other week had a clip of Bond smashing a urinal over his head! I'd like to see more of that.

That's too bad the interviewer didn't ask him about the "reframing" aka "zoomboxing" of GE on DVD, I would have liked to see M.Campbell reaction to his movie being butchered and losing 20% of the frame.

I'm hoping he does a commentary, myself, although he gave no indication in this interview that he will. In my ideal world, I wouldn't mind a commentary from him, and another one from Dan and possibly other cast members like Eva and/or Mads. CR should have deleted scenes, although whether any of them will get put back into the film for an "EE" remains to be seen. It would be a significant first if they did. If any Bond film deserves a fully loaded DVD release (with a *bit* more than 90 minutes of extras on two discs, please!), Casino Royale does.

Many of the comments here are quite different from the "I hope he takes it" and hopping from 1 foot to the other speculation about Campbell helming Bond 22.
I would love to see deleted scenes myself. With Campbell commentary too. ![]() You like wild things don't you, Mr. Bond, James Bond?

More Casino Royale the better. A movie as successful as that and for the fact that it's my favorite film of all time is a good enough reason to do a proper bloated with extras DVD.
