Any desire I had to buy this book disappeared with the words:

...this reprint of the Bond novel follows the text of the first edition [Jonathan Cape] with minor emendations.

Take your little PC desecration and shove it.

Numbers 4 and 5 were Mr and Mrs Du Pont, rich-looking and might or might not have some of the real Du Pont money behind them. Bond guessed they would be stayers. They both had a business-like look about them and were talking together easily and cheerfully as if they felt very much at home at the big game. Bond was quite happy to have them next to him...

Fascinating illustrations... I'd almost rather have a set of those by themselves than the book...

But today is the thirteenth...

How do you figure that means being "PC"? Also.. I think the people that buy this would mostly be collectors and would most likely not read it (though would undoubtedly look at the illustrations).

Emendations means "to improve by critical editing" - i'd like to know how they have improved the book.

I have to agree with Mr. DuPont in that I highly suspect that it means some PC editing has taken place.

All the more reason to leave it unedited, in my opinion.

I'll have to flip through my copy and compare it to the recent unedited Penguin edition.

Is that man with the suitcase supposed to be Bond? If it is, by not painting any details in his coat, the artist has managed to make Bond look fat. Makes it look like an adaptation of the film version of DAF.

Not a fan.

Some men aren't looking for anything logical. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Agreed, if they did what I think they did.

Qwerty,

Is there a suggested retail price on the book, or do you know what the original price was?...

Finally found this on their website which indicates a price of $39.95. No idea why this wasn't on their site when I looked before...

But
