As part of the Summer of British Film season

This really isn't that big a story, but am I the only one who finds it odd or curious that FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE is being shown on Sunday 29th July 2007 at 9pm on BBC2?

It is being shown as part of the channel's SUMMER OF BRITISH FILM season and - from my memory - is the first time a 007 film has been shown on the BBC.

Bring it on I say...!

Yes, now that I think about it I genuinely do associate Bond with ITV.

Ooh- that is an odd one; I wonder how that's worked?

I remember they had Never Say Never Again a few years ago and made a big deal of it; is it a one off or have they got them all? I think I remember seeing a story about how ITV won't have the Casino Royale premiere as they have done for the last few Bonds- perhaps they've lost it altogether?

I saw a trailer for the British Film Season- seems to be a bit of a feature about The Ipcress File too, complete with Michael Caine interview.

Yes, it looks to be a good series - in principle if nothing else. I've a vague feeling that another Bond might be on the channel too. GOLDFINGER is certainly getting a wide digital release on Tuesday 31st apparently - which all ties in with the same season of films.

And at least there won't be three years of advertising breaking the flow of one of the 1960's finest spy thrillers - which is why it is on I imagine...

I always felt the BBC to appear more classier than ITV - I Love the Red design biggrin.gif, I have a feeling Bond would be treated with more respect on the beeb, and not just be edited for laughs (Which happened when ITV last broadcast a Bond movie (TND)the editing was absolutely atrocious!)

Unless you count the '67 Casino Royale, which I'm pretty certain had it's UK TV premier on BBC.

It must be a one-off deal between Eon, the Beeb, and ITV.

A little OT; but the same company designed both the BBC's and ITV's current looks! smile.gif

The Goldfinger screenings in cinemas across the UK are also part of this series. You can find out more here http://www.bbc.co.uk/britishfilm/summer/whats_on/

The trailers they keep showing for the series also have clips of Casino Royale but I can't find out any info about which programme this maybe from, I'm guessing it is a documentary.

Was rather suprised to see that 'From Russia,With Love' is to be shown this Sunday on BBC2..always thought that ITV kept their stranglehold on the Bond films rather tight.
So after many a year a terristrial outing on the BBC..so hopefully no snips & no ad breaks.always hoped that 007 would be on the BBC.
I wonder if they have options on any of the other Bonds?

I don't think do you Mr Bond that the United Nations will let it come to that??
