Out of the blue Chris Cornell hits one right out of the ball park for all James Bond fans with a rousing rendition of You Know My Name. Wonder what Mads will muster up? ;-) Well done Chris and thanks for the Bondian touch on this day of 07-07-07!!! This post has been edited by Qwerty: 10 July 2007 - 21:37 |

The reason give is he's "saving his voice". Still, his singing isn't very good here. ![]() ![]() RIP Skip Caray (1939-2008) |

Anything on utube is utter garbage audio wise.
You had to see it LIVE...as it was happening...One second there was nothing going on in Hamburg...and the next second they were blasting out the opening chords to one of the greatest James Bond themes over the past 25 years. His voice sounded great live and he only cooked it on the final 3 repeats of the line at the end. I do hate all the armchair critics who judge things on the basis of the pure convenience (and poor audio quality) of utube. |

Well, Cornell is known for not being the best live singer. But if he gives a great performance with energy then you might not notice that his voice isn't that good. And yes, he does use some sort of help in the studio to get his voice good.
But still, I like him. He a great songwriter and he has a great voice, allthough he might not be considered the best singer. ![]() CASINO ROYALE - the best Bond movie in 19 years! |

What i'm appalled at is that THIS is the first time I have heard ANY version of YKMN on either radio or tv and all we get on this thread is criticism of his voice on utube.
Shouldnt we be glad that one of 'our' songs was played to a live global audience on 07/07/07? |

Shouldnt we be glad that one of 'our' songs was played to a live global audience on 07/07/07? I agree. Also, I don't think that his voice sounds too bad - that just happens to be his style of singing, and he does have an amazing voice, irrespective of how much effort he was or wasn't putting in. Also, just a note for those who'd like to check them out, there are several other videos on YouTube of Cornell performing the song live at some of his own concerts. |
