No, this isn't a one shot screening at some art house, this is a real theatrical rerelease of Goldfinger on at least 150 UK screens. If it works, other Bond films may follow. Check it out.

Goldfinger is a test case not only for the rerelease of other Bond films, but also for the digital release of the next Bond film in UK cinemas.

Hmm. You know what I'd like to see? Bond 22 in IMAX or any Bond film for that matter. Just thought I'd say it. I wanted to do this with Casino Royale, but.. alas they didn't do it.

I hope this makes its way stateside. I'd love to see a classic Bond in theaters.

I echo your sentiment. This would be sweet. For those of you across the pond who will be checking this out -- enjoy!

Feeling's mutural. I would love to see an old classic Bond in the theatres. I've only seen the past three on the big screen and only one was any good (guess which one I'm talking about).

A great idea. I would like a chance to see a pristine copy in the theatre. I wonder if it will ever get statewide? I would think that the widescreens would have the best chance to be successful.

Will the money it makes from the rerelease be added to Goldfinger's official BO gross?

I would say no since the previous reissues weren't counted, but there's probably going to be many that say it should be counted as part of the box office business.

All depends on whether someone or a website or whatever counts as part of the total: the initial run, double bills, re-releases, etc.

I hope one of the screenings is in Leeds, although I wonder just how difficult it will be to get tickets. I tried to book tickets for a Bradford showing of TSWLM a few years ago and they were sold out days in advance.

I'm surprised they're not kicking this off with THE SPY WHO LOVED ME. That film is so hugely loved in the UK it isn't even funny. A re-release of TSWLM would almost bury everything else. However, perhaps they're starting with GOLDFINGER because they want to keep at least one guaranteed successful followup up their sleeves, and also because Connery's Bond chimes more with Craig's than Moore's does and GOLDFINGER has more of the feel of CASINO ROYALE than TSWLM has.

In any case, great news, although (yes, bring on the griping fanboys! tongue.gif) I'd prefer new celluloid prints to digital efforts. Not only is film more old school and authentic and generally, like, better and stuff, but I've already got the digital version of GOLDFINGER, insofar as I own the DVD. Will this just look like the UE DVD on a very large screen?
