I was browsing my local independent bookshop this evening and caught sight of a new Amis biography prominently on display. The book is called THE LIFE OF KINGSLEY AMIS and it is by Zachary Leader.
http://www.amazon.com/Life-Kingsley-Amis-Z...2815&sr=1-1 Leafing through it, I noted there were at least 5 or 6 pages devoted to Colonel Sun. ![]() |

Now on the CBn main page...
1,008 pages?! This definitely sounds like a thorough read. Great find, Solex. ![]() |

For anyone who's read this...how much is there about Colonel Sun? Anything revelatory?

Not to be confused with THE LETTERS OF KINGSLEY AMIS, right? That one's also a "brick" of a book at over 1K pages.

Not to be confused with THE LETTERS OF KINGSLEY AMIS, right? That one's also a "brick" of a book at over 1K pages. They are different books, but by the same author. Delmo got me a review copy of the new biography. It is a monster. Unfortunately I spotted a lame error right away - stating that Fleming died Aug 18 64. It was actually 6 days earlier (and his son's birthday), the 12th. ![]() ![]() |

I was rather interested to read about how Fleming and Amis met to discuss the JB Dossier. Amis was apprehensive that Fleming would react negatively to some of his criticism, but Fleming quite liked the book, and only took issue with a few factual errors that were later taken care of.
