Edward Zwick's war drama premieres today; goes on general release in mid-January

Hi,

Just found the following on DarkHorizon's site.

QUOTE
James Bond himself Daniel Craig will star in Ed Zwick's WWII Polish Resistance epic "Defiance."

Defiance is the true story of four brothers in Nazi occupied Poland who flee to the Belarussian forest with a band of Jews and join forces with Russian Resistance fighters.

Zwick has helmed such films as "The Last Samurai," "Glory," "The Siege" and most recently "Blood Diamond." Craig is expected to complete work on this before moving on to the next 007 film
Sounds interesting and hopefully we'll see some more great acting from Craig.

P.s I've been lurking for a number of years and think this is the best site around with very polite and imformed members,Cheers.

Sounds like a quality project. And it'll be interesting to see who gets cast as his brothers. Is Pierce Brosnan available? smile.gif

Blood Diamond was quite boring in parts. Leo was better directed in Departed than in BD. So I dont think the Zwick movie will be any great shakes. Maybe a Oscar nom for Danny???

It does sound good to hear my member me being called "very polite and imformed" wink.gif

In a perfect world, Sean would be Bond, Angelina Jolie the Bond girl,Kevin Spacey the Bond Villian, George Lucas/Lucasfilm the producer and Steven Spielberg the director.
Proud maker of Hollowed Volcanoes since 1962.

Actually, I thought that BLOOD DIAMOND was a very good movie. I've always liked Ed Zwick as a director. This new movie should prove to be interesting.

Blood Diamond was terrible. Just terrible. (And I'm a Leonardo Dicaprio fan who has an interest in Africa...)

There was a good post at Cinematical today wondering how Daniel is supposed to squeeze in this movie onto his schedule when he's presumably got to start filming Bond 22 later this year.

Unfortunately I also hear that Daniel's next film (Invasion) is a bomb. But The Golden Compass should be really good.

Well nobody has seen The Invasion so its a bit premature to call it a bomb. I thought Bond 22 is supposed to start filming in early 08, so if he can crank out Blindness and Defiance before then, it should be ok. I'm sure he's organized his schedule with EON anyway.

WEll, actually...

It has been screened. It's also known that a lot of the movie had to be re-shot. I doubt it has anything to do with Daniel's performance. In any case, he is so hot right now, and has so much on his plate, that even if Invasion isn't much good, it shouldn't hurt his momentum at all.

(I also read somewhere, that Nicole Kidman accidentally left a car in gear and it started rolling away and Daniel jumped in heroically and kept it from hitting people!)

I see. Well, not sure I really have the same taste in movies as someone who writes for a site called 'Bloody Disgusting'. Having a look around that site, it appears they consider the Saw movies to be masterpieces, which tells me all I need to know.
To be honest, I'm probably going to see it no matter what; as soon as I heard what the movie was about and who was in it, it was on my list to see (and these days its a very short list). Its just one bad mark from a quite frankly questionable website, it'll take Gigli/Catwoman type bad buzz to really put me off, because it looks like an interesting movie to me, and so few movies are interesting these days.

The project is moving along then. I wonder when it is going to shoot, will Craig have time to get this done before Bond 22 starts in Jan(?), or will it be done after that?
