Don't think I'll be able to make that, but I do have a good friend who works over there off and on during the summer. He'll be informed.

'Goldfinger' memories

After I recently wrote about an outdoor screening of "Goldfinger" at Fort Knox, Barbara Cissell sent an interesting note about the filming of the popular James Bond movie. Here are some of her recollections:

"Your mention of the 'Goldfinger' movie took me back to the '60s when I was in high school and 'Goldfinger' was all the rage. Jay Klempner told me that the car crusher used in the movie was the only one in the world at the time and it was on River Road at Klempner Bros. scrap yard.

… I went to Ursuline Academy on East Chestnut Street and my classmate, Sharon Higdon, was elected Miss Jefferson County. She was beautiful and got a part in the movie. She had to get off of a plane at Bowman Field and was part of Pussy Galore's Gal Squad of pilots. She was seen about 4 seconds, then other actors played the roles of the pilots. She's the first pretty blonde with the ponytail you see when the planes land."
