So it begins.

I wonder if BARBARELLA means that P&W won't come back for any rewrites... is EON counting on bringing back Paul Haggis, as some suggest?

If not him, they'll definately be bringing someone else in.

I think the way they work, EON don't need P&W anymore to "improve" the story, because they probably have been involved in the construction and the selection and arrangement of the scenes at everystage. I mean, it's not like the writers just drafted it on their own, and send it to EON for review. It means the story is there, and what must be done now is tweaking the dialogue, and any construction problem (not enough action ? not enough love story ?) others may see in the script.

Filming begins in January, right?
Construction starts when? September?

Sounds like the duo need to get on to their next project asap, so they've turned in a draft, which might need another pass. Paul Haggis is surely gonna be called in, and probably have more time to polish it.

Just speculation.

Whether Haggis returns or not is not the point. The point is, a milestone toward bond 22 was reached. We are 1 step closer... And counting down.

You like wild things don't you, Mr. Bond, James Bond?

I think I've mentioned this before on CBN, but my predictions are that we'll have a script reveiw by July/August that can be viewable on websites such as AICN and possably a title by Autumn time alongside with a cast by the fall of 2007. Then principle photography would commence in January of 2008. Once the script has been given to EON, they may have more directors interested in doing Bond 22. Which brings me to the fact about Martin Campbell. As he got anything planned for 2008. Would EON approach Campbell with the script?. I think Campbell is the best man for the role of director. He knows were Casino Royale left off and knows the charater of Bond. He has surely got to be the ideal canditate.

I've wondered about Stephen Frears. Seeing that he did a wonderfull job on The Queen. And got the picture an Oscar surely EON have considered to approach him. If Campbell turns down the script then I am in favour for Stephen Frears to direct Bond 22.

I could buy that.

Though Purvis and Staid handing in a first draft means nothing I'm afraid. First draft is exactly that, a first draft.

I guess the B22 rumour mill will slowly start churning now.

Good news that P&W seem to have other things to do, meaning someone else will definitely be polishing their script.

I imagine that Campbell is waiting for the P&W script and the assurance that Haggis will sign on to make his decsision. As time separates him from the rigors of Casino Royale - remember he said it was an exhasutive experience - I imagine he will be more willing to sign on. I would be surprised if Eon doesn't offer him a large amount of cash to return.

The script is the key - and one has to hope it's Casino Royale good - and doesn't contain some of the Die Another Day flaws.

I definitely hope they bring Haggis or someone of his caliber in to polish up the script if need be. Hopefully P&W did not stray too much from the CR style, but we'll have to see.
