This one sort of came out of the blue. It's coming out a bit late as CR is gone from theaters and has already hit DVD.
I think it sounds interesting in that it will explore the literary Bond, but the claim it's not just a trivia book sounds a bit strange considering there will be lists of title song performers, bad guys and such. I'm always interested in different books about the Bond phenomenon, but I've been pretty selective lately and this one will have to really stand out to make me buy it. ![]() "You didn't think I'd miss this performance, did you?"

Just finished reading it. Easily one of the worst books on Bond I have read. The book looks and feels cheap, no photos, mistakes aplenty, and there is NO detailed filmography. It also has the gall to call itself the "first-ever definitive guide to the books and films." DeRoses' review of CR details how, when Bond is trailing Vesper through Venice he finds Le Chiffre very much alive (this is actually Getler). He also mentions that in CR (the book) among the characters we meet is the "quartermaster Q". (?) For more definitive, and acurate, coverage of Bond in print and on film I would recommend 'The Bond Files' by Andy Lane and Paul Simpson or, although not up-to-date, Raymond Benson's 'James Bond Bedside Companion' - worth it for the analysis and reviews of Fleming's work alone. ![]() "This is not the Berlitz School of Languages, Head of S."

How did this get past us all?
If this include the continuation novels, I'm on it! Does anyone know if it does? ![]() |

Heard from the author. Looks like this book includes the continuation novels up to and including Benson. That sets this book apart. Looks like I'm getting it.

Zen, Let us know if this book's coverage of the continuation novels is any good. I'm on the fence about getting this one, but good coverage of the continuations would probably make up my mind. ![]() |

Was thinking of getting this, but the note about Le Chiffre being the character of Gettler, and being alive?!! (I hate people saying this just because of an eye patch) is off putting and annoying.

Got my copy a few days ago. Haven't gotten into it yet, but it appears that each book has about a one-and-a-half to two page summary/review.

Let me know how it is, Qwerts, especially in regards to the continuation novels. I'm still on the fence with this one. Any illustrations? A nice pic of a Saab could turn me. ![]() |
