This is a mystery and the million dollar question for us Young Bondites. Oddly enough, the YB3 U.S. audiobook has been announced (July 10, 2007), but no word on the actual book.

This thing is, Miramax/Hyperion bought the rights to only the first two Young Bond books (the YB3 audiobook is being published by Simon and Schuster). Theyve published those. Now what? Will they renew? Will there be a new publisher? Will YB3 not be published in the U.S. (as with the Moneypenny books)?

I did ask Miramax and IFP, but never got a responsewhich could mean anything.

We have to wait and see.

I kinda hope Penguin gets the last three books. Lets just say I think Hyperion and Miramax have been less than stellar with Young Bond in the United States.... in comparison to Puffin/Penguin in the UK.

They certainly haven't gotten any of the promotion the books have received in the UK!

Indeed. And for this:

"What it also interesting to note is that early copies of Young Bond Book 3 will come in sealed foil packaging in order to keep the title secret. Those who pre-order have a chance at obtaining one of these rare editions." - http://commanderbond.net/article/3806

Well, I was finally able to get something offical on this, even though it's not much.

No U.S. release date for Young Bond 3...yet

Nice to at least hear something, as you say.

Hopefully things get moving relatively soon.

Well I would think they're either staying quiet because 1) they don't (possibly yet) have the rights or 2) they don't know the title which kind of hurts their planning and preparation.

You should have just asked her straight out about the rights, but it appears to me that she didn't give you the opportunity and that you got brushed aside. wink.gif

I sent a follow-up asking flat out about the rights. We'll see. I understand if they can't/won't answer. They could still be working out a deal. I try not to push it...too far. tongue.gif
