And, you know, if Craig were a writer he'd be one of the handful of princes who do autographings at the independent bookstores who'd supported him on the way up. He wouldn't only sign at chains. So, the indies made him the actor he is. And he has not forgotten them or the smaller, real pleasures they offer. Go, Dan.

Keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground, while rising to the top. An honorable trait, indeed. It is so cool watching a star rise.

He kind of reminds me of Connery back in the day, taking parts in films he found interesting rather than just the big money pics or mixing it up at least.

I just recently watched Craig's performance as killer Perry Smith in INFAMOUS.
My God! My God! He was fascinating, sympathetic and terrifying all at once! How on earth did Alan Arkin beat him in the Supporting Actor Category for the Independent Spirit Awards??? Also . . . I had no idea that he could sing. ![]() "I am now aiming precisely at your groin. So speak or forever hold your piece."

Has anyone seen him as Ted Hughes in Sylvia?
Very challenging role, and different to Bond, that is for sure. ![]() --DaveBond21--
Ah, Mr Bond, perhaps you would like to make love to my mistress before I have you killed? Muhhahhh....ha ha ha ha....... |

The better question is why Arkin got nominated for Oscar and Craig didn't. Craig deserved that Best Supporting Actor nomination (and possibly a win - he was certainly more deserving than Alan Arkin or Eddie Murphy or Mark Wahlberg). It was a phenomenal performance. ![]() |

I agree that Craig needs to do other roles. It's really important for him as an actor. He doesn't want to be remembered as James Bond. He wants to be remembered as an actor.
That is always going to be difficult, because he will always be James Bond from now on. ![]() --DaveBond21--

That is always going to be difficult, because he will always be James Bond from now on. True, but Daniel Craig has an advantage that previous Bonds don't. He's truly a chameleon-like actor. And as long as he continues to take creative roles (like Lord Asriel in The Golden Compass or Satan in either I, Lucifer or Paradise Lost), he should do just fine. What damned Connery (believe it or not, Connery had a hell of a time of making a career after Bond... he didn't get out of the shadow 'til late in life), Moore, and Brosnan is that they just couldn't shake the Bond connection in other roles. Craig just sinks into other roles to the point you can hardly believe the man played James Bond. ![]() |

Yep. And that is why I think he will do the 3, and move on immediately. He will become tired of the media attention, and comments from the public, not necessarily the role itself.

Archangel, anyone? Seems to have gone straight to DVD and I don't have a player. Curious, though, about Craig's performance and the film itself.
