'We had a good fight about that [shower scene in the film]...'

Interesting article in The Guardian today, and a link at the bottom to the Orange website to vote for Eva Green to get best newcomer BAFTA, go on, you know you want to.

Cool to hear some further bits about Casino Royale from her.

She definitely got my vote for the award.

Thanks for the posting. And that seems to settle the debate about how Vesper came to be wearing her lovely new dress in the shower. Great decision. Powerful scene.

Ditto. I'm glad she won the shower scene argument. Much more classy than where it would have gone.

I thought the article seemed to be written with a rather nasty viciousness. Whoa! What is this person's problem? Seemed to be trying to stir up negative and unpleasant comments. It was like it was written by someone from that 'unmentionable' anti Craig site.

The Guardian are always like that. Their columnists seem to specıalıse in a very unpleasant form of "smarter than thou" journalism, where they sneer down their noses at anyone and anything. The object of many articles often seems to be to illustrate the massive intelligentce of the writers rather than to inform the readers.

I worked in a lobby group in London for 2 years in the press office, and although the issue concerned was one that the Guardian supported, its writers were often less fair to us, and more critical, than those at the Telegraph, a paper that should by rights have been baying for our blood.

In short, don't let it get to you! I'm sure Eva won't.

She shouldn't have signed on to do the film if she didn't want to do the shower scene the way it had been written. The final scene didn't negatively affect the film but Green shouldn't have complained.

I've seen THE DREAMERS and she certainly wasn't a shy wall flower when getting her gear off in that movie.

Well you know what? This is Hollywood. Eva would reveal herself in the Dreamers because it's an independent film. And most people would rather strip her clothes off in films made for the Sundance indie demography than the Hollywood mainstream demography.

And, like John Travolta said in Swordfish:

"You know what's the problem with Hollywood today? They make [censored]."

If it wasn't for Bogart's white tuxedo from Casablanca, Connery wouldn't have wore one in Goldfinger!

I think keeping the dress on was the right thing to do, after all anyone after seeing that violence and almost getting killed, isn't going to want make themselves feel vulnerable.

As for complaining about the script, maybe she had the right to offer in her two cents? Was the nude scene added in later perhaps? Many scripts change during the duration of the making of the film....

Many actors do have that liberty to voice their opinion about what is to be done in a film, heck some will just complain due to ego, but sometimes they can deliver some great input.

On the first night the girl had brought him tea. Bond had looked at her severely. 'I don't drink tea. I hate it. It's mud. Moreover its one of the main reasons for the downfall of the British Empire. Be a good girl and make me some coffee.' The girl had giggled and scurried off to sprad Bond's dictum in the canteen. From then on he had got his coffee. The expression 'a cup of mud' was seeping through the building.

Absolutely, EL7. I've seen interviews with Craig where he leads off with "What we are going to do in the next...."

It would seem that there is much more thespian input rather than directorial dictatership going on.

Her sitting position in the shower would have certainly covered anything that would have lead to a restricted rating. But, with that gorgeous dress on, it just simply made an explamation point of her frightened state of mind.
