Wish I could go. I have a friend who loved Casino Royale and the Dalton films and I'm anxious to show From Russia With Love and On Her Majesty's Secret Service to since he prefers the more serious Bond films. But I'm kinda annoyed at some of Steven Jay Rubin's comments though, i.e. (and I'm paraphrasing here) "it's OK for Diamonds Are Forever to be sci-fi and funny but not Moonraker" and "it's OK for For Your Eyes Only to be more serious and down-to-earth but not Licence to Kill".

This sounds like a pretty cool event to me. A nice line-up of films from the series, plus the trivia marathon.

While I definitely don't agree with all of Rubin's ratings on the Bond films, (he definitely doesn't seem to be a fan of Moonraker or Tomorrow Never Dies) it'd still be cool to meet him. I think his encyclopedia was one of the very first books about Bond I ever got.

Zen,

I'm unbelievably jealous... If there was any way I could swing another trip to LA, I'd do it for this weekend!

But today is the thirteenth...

I was so thrilled to hear about this event. I've seen all the Connery films on the big screen with the exception of You Only Live Twice. Soon I will have seen them all. Exciting! And they are all new 35mm prints.

eek.gif Awesome news! Some of the greatest films in the series and new prints too? Do I have to sign away my first born child or something? I'm certainly going to attend Thursday and Friday as those are the only films of the pre-Rog era that I have not yet seen on the big screen smile.gif . I'm considering skipping Saturday due to the "been there, done that" feel but will probably end up going for the trivia contest and staying for the movies too because of the new print factor. I look forward to hanging with those LA CBNers that can make it, provided this isn't just a dream and my alarm clock is about to start playing Dirty Love to wake me up.

Timing is everything I suppose. I'd be in for the full line up.

Alas, I'll be roaming about Istanbul, sipping Raki, playing cat and mouse with Bulgars and watching belly-dancers.

Have fun everyone!

I, too, am out of town that weekend.

I will be in NYC celebrating my birthday and seeing Ennio Morricone at Radio City Music Hall as he conducts his first (and possibly only) US concert date ever.

Have fun! Wish I could be there to join you!
