I wish they would put it on HD DVD as well. But i doubht sony would every do that! Oh well now i may have to invest in a blue ray player It's very doubtful that any Sony film will end up on HD DVD while the contest for domination of the HD format is still going on. Sony is the main company behind Blu Ray, and most likely won't do anything to help the competition by releasing their biggest film (to date) of the Blu-Ray "era" on its rival format. If HD DVD ultimately becomes the format of choice, then Casino Royale might see a re-release on that format, but until then, I doubt it. ![]() ![]() |

Companies are already advertising dual HD DVD/Blu-Ray players.
Forget where I recently saw an ad for one, but it wasn't a Sony. EDIT: JUst remembered - it was on a segment on my local news about some big gadget show in Seattle (I think). ![]() |

EDIT: JUst remembered - it was on a segment on my local news about some big gadget show in Seattle (I think). I heard about one of those today as well. I believe that there was a story on Comingsoon.net regarding LG's announcement of a dual-format player coming out sometime during the first quarter of this year. ![]() ![]() |

Casino Royale will never be on HD-DVD. There's a better chance for hell to freeze over before CR ever coming to HD-DVD
With that said, Casino Royale release coincides with Playstation 3 release in Europe. Playstation 3 is a less expensive and yet high quality blu-ray player. |

At the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas LG did indeed announce a dual player. Right now Blu-Ray appears to be more popular with 6 out of 7 major studios supporting that format. But HD is less expensive and has, to my flawed knowledge, fewer tech glitches than Blu-Ray. for instance there are problems getting Blu-Ray disks to play on all Blu-Ray players. Plus HD looks as good as Blu_Ray if you ask me. I think it will be a year or so before the format wars are resolved.

bah, either way I just want this whole stupid format war to blow off. They're cutting DVD's lifespan too early if you ask me. I for one don't feel like having to upgrade all my films simply to HD versions of them. If they would have given it several more years than maybe yeah, I would consider, but not at this moment. DVD came at the right time to replace VHS, and I just think that it's too early for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.

What about standard DVD format? Surely CR isn't just available on Blue Ray? Please excuse my ignorance. I don't have a DVD player that plays Blue Ray.
