Opening in Italy this weekend

-----UPDATE-----

Strong staying power in UK; #1 opening in Italy

Buonasera

(New update 21:18 GMT)

CASINO ROYALE has passed $500,000,000 Worldwide

$345,000,000 Internationally
$156,800,000 North America

Today sees the release of CR in Italy

Sony Pictures Releasing International's (SPRI) is lauching CR
at 410 screens.

Generally Italy has not been a large market
for Bond films, but as CR has Italian actors and
actresses in the film and the fact that the film
had parts filmed in Italy such as Venice i expect the
film to exceed the boxoffice there made by DAD.

Look what Mads Mikellson did for the Danish boxoffice.

This weekend in the US i expect CR to be around the $159 mil by
the end of Sunday, getting ever nearer to DAD's $160.9 mil.

In the UK the film could get very close to $100 mil total,
though i expect to see this mark passed early next week,
and then surpass 'Pirates' by the end of next weekend.

See belows extract from 'Variety'

"Casino Royale" shows little sign of letting up its assault on the U.K. box office. It leapt 40% in its seventh frame last weekend despite losing 12% of its screens and is on track to becoming the highest grossing film released in 2006.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" finished up with 52.5 million ($102 million) but Bond is on its tail with a running cume of $98.2 million as of Jan. 4.

In general after Sunday i expect the worldwide total to
be between $515-520 mil.........outstanding.

P.S. When is the boycott by 'DCnB' supposed to start????????

Ciao

Great news! thumbup.gif

English Agent... just curious, are you some kind of box office expert? You always seem to get the box office numbers and analysis to us before most.

It's not my job.......but an interest.
I really only started following boxoffice, when the internet came
into being, as it allowed this info to be more readily available.

I only put reports on this site from respectable and accurate film trade sources.

As i have tracked various films BO over the last few years, i have gradually
been able to build up a decent list of premier boxoffice resources over the
internet.
By following BO trends, this gives one experience over the years, to be able
to predict a films boxoffice fairly accurately during its run and understand
which markets a film will perform strongly.

I am currently trying to resource reliable sites to obtain 'admission' figures.

I wonder if it will get to the $575 million that some were predicting for it.

Didn't Thunderball make a lot? And thankfully the internet wasn't about in 1967 otherwise there would have been so much gnashing of teeth at a $230-odd million drop from the previous film. Bloody penguins.

Casino Royale the biggest Bond since Moonraker? Blimey.

Wow, I knew Thunderball made a lot of money, but 900 million with inflation!? That's almost as much as what the Lord of the Rings movies were making.

Back on topic, well done to Casino Royale! It deserves every penny it made cool.gif
