I thought this was a neat flashback...

Variety: December 23, 2002

Another high-profile performer, "Die Another Day," remained a potent player with $13.7 million to lift its foreign cume to $143.4 million and its Blighty total to $45.8 million, making "Day" the top grosser of the 20 Bond pix in that territory.

Royale by comparison is at roughly $256 million (today) in foreign gross and in the UK as we all know it's over $80 million. Interesting stuff. This comparison isn't all that fair because I think Royale has been released in 50 markets already.. and DAD by the time of that writing had only been in 30+, I think. Still.....

This is the weekend I've kind of been wary of as far as greater competition for CR at the U.S. box office: Charlotte's Web, Eragon (althought it's getting mostly unenthuastic reviews) and The Pursuit of Happyness (which has gotten really good word-of-mouth).

In my town, for instance, CR was yanked from the 10-screen multiplex and put into the smaller 5-screen mall cinema.

Yeah, CR is going to get trounced at the box office this weekend. It was 8th on Friday.

And CR has stopped playing altogether in my hometown, with Happy Feet still being shown. I live in a smaller town with a 12-screen theather, but it's still disappointing.
