I can understan the love scenes, but the torture is cool and somewhat plot-driving

Looking at what they cut (60% of the torture scene) they have probably left in a bit of the humor and enough to give you a flavour of what is going on, but removed any full length shots of Craig tied up. Could be a smart move as it allows them to drop down a rating and get a much bigger potential audience.

I guess you are right about it leaving the plot devices intact, but I enjoyed the whole torture scene, because it shows our hero almost breaking in the face of the enemy.
