Yep, once again more wonderful stuff cut in favour of action, action and more action. Eon may have gone in a different direction but they still cannot get out of the mindset of favouring action above everything else and it's a real shame. There is more than enough action in the film. They should have trimmed back the action scenes like the Venice climax and kept the good stuff like the sailing and the opening scene at the cricket ground etc. The footage only added up to a few minutes. Having these extra scenes would have made a huge difference to the film as they are memorable and Bondian, and trimming back a bit of action to compensate wouldn't have made hardly any difference. They do it every bloody time. The Bond flicks will forever be plagued by this. Royale could have been so much better. Eon just doesn't seem to change in respect to this.
I will remain 100% spoiler free for Bond 22. Partly because I don't want to get frustrated hearing about Eon cutting out classic moments in favour of damn action. This post has been edited by Jack Spang: 25 November 2006 - 00:52 |
