Now on the CBn main page...
According to IGN Daniel Craig recently stated that for Bond 22 Spectre might return. Is this possible? Aren't there any legal rumblings with Kevin McClory that have to be resolved in order to make this happen? I certainly wouldn't mind Spectre to return (brings back lovely memories of FRWL and TB). Perhaps they could finally do the Blofeld trilogy justice. http://movies.ign.com/articles/746/746768p1.html |

I don't think anyone knows.
I assume McClory still has a hold of SPECTRE. Doesn't stop them from doing something similar. There are other unused "evil organizations" in the world of Bond that can be used or adjusted to suit this purpose. The other day I was thinking of a SPECTRE-like organization headed by the twin brothers Jack and Seraffimo Spang. Imagine that.. especially if Bond is able to kill one in Bond 22. Leaves a door open for Bond 23. (For those that haven't read the novels, the Spangs head up The Spangled Mob in Diamonds Are Forever. I think that org crops up in The Man with the Golden Gun and maybe mentioned in Goldfinger. I can't remember) ![]() ![]() |

EON now has control of all McClory's previous claims, including Thunderball, so Blofeld and SPECTRE. I'd be surprised if that's the way we go on this story arc, since it must deal with Tracy, and I'd be doubly shocked and more than a little dismayed to have the Tracy story done again this soon.

All the news reports after the lawsuit was won by EON, which gave them all McClory's previous holdings. This was after the whole Warhead 2000 junk.

All the news reports after the lawsuit was won by EON, which gave them all McClory's previous holdings. This was after the whole Warhead 2000 junk. That was a different lawsuit. Sony and McClory sued MGM/EON saying that he (McClory) co-wrote the cinematic version of Bond and he was owed fees. He lost. I still don't know what you're talking about. Perhaps you could cite a source? ![]() ![]() |

But the thought of SPECTRE returning isn't really a bad idea...especially in this current political climate.

See, when he lost that lawsuit, he lost what he was holding as well. My sources were James Bond sites like this one. Maybe it was this one. Check past news postings here, I suppose. And possibly newspapers. I'm sorry, I cannot remember every source, so I know that must diminish my credibility for you. Double check with the mods and/or admins. I promise, I'm not making this up...Thunderball now belongs to EON (the film, not just the distribution), NSNA (which was never theirs) now belongs to EON, and SPECTRE and Blofeld fall under the Thunderball rights.

It didn't happen. Not to my knowledge and I've researched this enough. All that essentially happened was Sony gave up the right to make future Bond films (until it bought a portion of MGM). Thunderball is still McClory's baby. If EON owned the rights, (and this is just one example) ask yourself why a video game that came out last year removed all mention and logos of SPECTRE and replaced it with a new and unheard of criminal organization. I'm open to the idea that Thunderball reverted back to EON (there are some claims that McClory's rights have expired), but I don't believe it to be true. I've never seen any evidence to suggest that McClory gave it up or EON somehow got it back. ![]() ![]() |

Ok, wait. Checking back. I admit error in my last post. My apologies. It's true, EON has only distribution rights to NSNA, not film rights, but it appears that after McClory aligned himself with Sony, Sony has the rights to McClory's material. The beautiful thing is, after McClory was defeated and lost rights to make Bond films, and Sony retained rights to what he possessed, Sony is now with EON. So, Now Sony/EON are claiming still that McClory's rights have expired. Don't know if it's toally true, either. Maybe the reports I first heard several years ago were spun a bit. God knows that's rampant. That's as much as I know. Sorry to go off "half-cocked," as it were.

If I remember correctly Ol’ Kevin went out and tried to be new backers for a Thunderball remake after the Sony lawsuit. Only then he could not look in the US (don’t remember or maybe never knew why). ![]() |

BTW, don't overlook my last post (I looked back and realized my error...).
So, are the rights just McClory's until Jesus comes, or just until he dies? (Sorry, I guess I'm just sick of McClory's crap...he really should move on while he can.) ![]() |
