Should stay ahead of Happy Feet unless that movie racks up like $20 million today. Should be over $30 million after tonight. Depends on how big of a bounce it gets today if it passes Die Another Day or not.

I'm very interested to see how much CR earns today. It will be higher today, maybe it will top 20 million.

But, what will it do next weekend? This week is out of curiousity. Next weekend is about staying power.

"Auric Tinfinger...sounds like a Polish nail varnish."

"Do you expect me to talk, Tinfinger?"

"No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to rust!"

Happy Feet will make more money on Saturday than Casino Royale will. However, both films look to end up around $42-43 million in ticket sales at the box office this weekend, much higher than what I predicted for the film, but much lower than what would've been necessary to beat DAD's opening weekend (would've required $50 million in adjusted dollars to meet or surpass DAD, and that's not going to happen).

I'm preparing my serving of crow as I speak.

Crow Pie:

1 crow
stuffing of your choice
salt and pepper
shortening
flour
2 Pie crust mixes
2-3 hard-boiled eggs

Stuff the crow. Loosen joints with a knife but do not cut through.
Simmer the crow in a stew-pan, with enough water to cover, until nearly tender, then season with salt and pepper. Remove meat from bones and set aside.
Prepare pie crusts as directed. (Do not bake)
Make a medium thick gravy with flour, shortening, and juices in which the crow has cooked and let cool.
Line a pie plate with pie crust and line with slices of hard-boiled egg. Place crow meat on top. Layer gravy over the crow. Place second pie dough crust over top.
Bake at 450 degrees for 1/2 hour.

Great news. This means that CR has already outgrossed BASIC INSTINCT 2 twice over and taken almost as much as MARIE ANTOINETTE.

Fact fans.

So, how often is Box Office Mojo updated, does anyone know?

That's a good omen for this week.

Next week is the real clincher, though (but it is Thanksgiving weekend, which should give it a solid boost). A number of viewers have reported people leaving during the torture scene, so I wonder if that's going to turn off a lot of people or not.

They're usually slow to update, I think they like to be absolutely 100% sure of the numbers before they post. Anyway, yeah FEET will see an increase in business today as Moms and Dads are off work and have no excuses not to reluctantly drag the kids to see it. CR will probably see a Saturday boost too, as all well-reviewed movies do.

Yeah its a 5 day holiday, so its easy money for every film, we could be looking at $100 million in 10 days for CR. Though the competing action movie Deja Vu is out too, there's still enough pie for everybody. I dunno, I think there's something a bit odd and underwhelming about Deja Vu. I like Denzel and Tony Scott, but I'm feelin' DVD on this one.

BoxOfficeMojo's listing -

1 CASINO ROYALE $14,750,000

"One day, and he accepted the fact, he would be brought to his knees by love or by luck. When that happened he knew he too would be branded with the deadly question-mark he recognized so often in others, the promise to pay before you have lost: the acceptance of fallibility." -Casino Royale, by Ian Fleming

I wouldn't worry too much about it. TND opened this same weekend and made more on Thanksgiving weekend (second weekend of release) than it did on the first, if I remember correctly. And it was, as we all know, up against Titanic.

I kind of thought after waiting in a long line for the 7pm showing, that it would have made more than it did. Waited in line for 1/2 hour and the movie started 10 minutes late due to the amount of people. Of course I live in a city where there is nothing else to due biggrin.gif
