Now on the CBn main page...
Chris Cornell's "You KNow My Name" is now available as a single on iTunes. I just downloaded it. You have to Power Search artist name to find it. Glad we didn't have to wait till next month. But it's still a shame that YNMN isn't on the offical CD album like all other twenty main titles are on their respective soundtracks. Ah well. ![]() "You must come to dinner, Mister Bond, and bring that marvelous wit of yours. I am sure it will prove positively deadly."

Just curious, any clue as to if it's the same version of the song that we hear in the film, with the added orchestration?

Just one question. Is it the movie version of You Know My Name on iTunes?

Yeah I downloaded it a few days ago by just typing in "You Know My Name". And I'm pretty sure it's the movie version.

It isn't the movie version. At least I don't think it is from the sample I just listened to.

It's not the movie version. Pretty sure it's that first radio release we got.
Kind of disappointed about it, I really loved that mix. ![]() ![]() It wouldn't be a James Bond adventure starring Daniel Craig without some controversy! Strawberry Fields, forever |

I found it on iTunes yesterday and listened to the sample, but it didn't seem to me that it was the one from the film, so I didn't get it.
Do we have any idea if the version from the film will be made available any time soon? ![]() "No man's knowledge can go beyond his experience." - John Locke

I just downloaded the YKMN version that is currently on iTunes. It seems to me that it is NOT the film version. Though the orchestration does seem closer to that of the one from the film, the telltale line about diamonds ("I've seen diamonds"- radio vs. "I've seen this diamond"- film) indicates that this is not the film version. Hopefully we will soon get the real deal.

Shame. When I replay the theme in my head I only hear the movie version now. Since it's the final version why waste time with pre release versions?

So, no, the iTunes version is not the version from the movie. But if you compared the previous official songs with their movie version, most of them aren't the same either. They are either much shorter, some even a little longer or just have a different orchestration.

Interested to read the comments on the iTunes version of "You Know My Name", not having an iPod but a more humble MP3 player, I downloaded the track from MSN Music at the weekend - not sure if this is different from the iTunes version or not:
http://sib1.od2.com/common/Framework11.aspx?shid=0170002E Strangely enough, I only did this as it wasn't on the soundtrack CD (of which two different versions are now on sale - both without the theme song) and it was advised that YKMN would not be released as a single, but scanning Amazon recently, I see a single release is now planned on 11th December on Polydor: Amazon-You Know My Name CD Single I really object to the release of exclusive or early content on iTunes only as it is denying the music to those less computer-literate (there are still quite a few) or to those who don't rate the iPod. For all the marketing nous, I also find it bizarre that the song wasn't available at Sony's own connect download store (when I last looked...) |
