I am sure the fewer screens for Tomorrow Never Dies was because it opened the same night as the mega-hit TITANIC and Johnny Depp's SLEEPY HOLLOW.
There were reports at the time that TITANIC was originally supposed to open the same weekend as AIR FORCE ONE, until Harrison Ford made a phone call and told the producers to "Get off my weekend." I guess Ford does not subscribe to the tentpole theory. ![]() ![]() Robert Brown was Admiral Hargreaves in TSWLM, OP, AVTAK, TLD and LTK damnit Enforcer, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Roger Moore Proud defender of Barbara Bach, Carole Bouquet, Barbara Carrera, Maryam D'Abo, A View to a Kill, Never Say Never Again and The Spy Who Loved Me. |

I am sure the fewer screens for Tomorrow Never Dies was because it opened the same night as the mega-hit TITANIC and Johnny Depp's SLEEPY HOLLOW. I believe the 2800 screens for TND was the widest opening (up to that point in time) for a Bond film. I seem to recall that GE was around 2600 or so, and that had been a huge increase from the Dalton films (which I think were around 1600-1700 screens). ![]() |

TND only opened against Titanic, it was TWINE that opened against Sleepy Hollow in 1999 in what was the first time in boxoffice history that two films grossed over 30m$ in their opening weekend

It's listed at 3800 screens on reel-source. The important part of 3300+ is the '+', SONY needs to give CR the same treatment it gave Talledega Nights and get it on 3800+ screens. Happy Feet has 3700+ listed and at 87 minutes has up to 6 screenings per day. A larger theater count and more screenings could tip the #1 berth to HF

I am sure the fewer screens for Tomorrow Never Dies was because it opened the same night as the mega-hit TITANIC and Johnny Depp's SLEEPY HOLLOW. Sleepy Hollow was one of TWINE's competitors, not TND's. QUOTE There were reports at the time that TITANIC was originally supposed to open the same weekend as AIR FORCE ONE, until Harrison Ford made a phone call and told the producers to "Get off my weekend." I guess Ford does not subscribe to the tentpole theory. Assuming you were being serious...that statement would then be incorrect. Originally TITANIC was slotted for a July 4th weekend release. When the film proved to be too far behind schedule to make that date, it was pushed back till December 19th, 1997. No one knew at the time that it would be such a hit, and conventional wisdom at the time was that the studio had gotten in too far, and that Cameron was out of control, and that there was no way the film would do enough business to overcome a $200 million dollar budget (in 1997 dollars). AIR FORCE ONE had nothing to do with Titanic's move. ![]() -----------------------------------------------------
"Our Father who art in Washington, Obama be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, In America as it is in the organized communities of Chicago. Give us this day our daily stimulus package and Forgive us our trespasses as We forgive those who vote for candidates with experience. And lead us not into the temptation of using our own minds, But deliver us from the evil Republicans. For thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Presidency Forever and Ever. Amen " |

HF will be accruing children ticket price dollars. CR will be accruing adult ticket price dollars. And I alone have two first day viewings lined up with over 10 people. Further, I'll be taking my 10 year old to both. Further, further, i will be purchasing CR tickets to see HF. Get? LOL |

The film did quite well judging by the opening box office numbers.
