Nice but not thrilling interview. The TND mention definitely is a snafu.
But most interesting: Campbell does hint at being probably not out of the race for Bond 22. He compares himself to Connery saying never again after GE. And now he does not state he doesnīt want to return (like he did before). He smilingly says he hasnīt been asked yet. But that might have been a white lie... |

No I want someone elase for Bond 22...I think CR used up most or Campbells ideas especially after some scene were very reminisent to GE This post has been edited by CM007: 27 October 2006 - 11:57 ![]() My Name Is Bond,James Bond

The Crane Scenes,The Bulldozer scene in ways and some of the casino scenes.Although the cinemaphotography is alot better. The Stairway fight scene reminded me of 007 fighting 006 just alittle more intense and thatīs more to do with the space. And Lets just say he didnīt bring anything new to the table.Again many people might just think differently,itīs only my opinion ![]() My Name Is Bond,James Bond

I would LOVE Campbell to return. His energy and total enthusiasm seem to get his cast and crew in the zone, and deliver amazing films.

I HATE that interviewer. Just...annoying. Poor Martin, putting in days of press for this thing with people like that.

Interesting. |

While it's nice to see Martin Campbell interviewed, some of his comments are puzzling.
The fact that he does not have his facts straight is disconcerting. As we all know Ian Fleming did not write only seven Bond novels, and that it is only the last five films that have not featured Fleming titles. While the character of Q may not appear named as such in the Fleming books, the character of Major Geoffrey Boothroyd, head of Q Branch does. Desmond Llewelyn's character is clearly referred to as same in The Spy Who Loved Me, and in the novelizations of the films Q is Boothroyd. I know that these facts may not matter all that much in the grand scheme of things, but Martin Campbell is directing a James Bond film--his second one no less. For a man who apparently has had some influence formulating the story of CR, he should be fully versed in Bond lore, both the books and films. But for a man who earlier stated that we will finally see where Bond got the Aston Martin (I do not remember the exact quote) and completely ignoring the fact that we already saw it in Goldfinger, that should come as no surprise. Plus for the general public who may only be getting their Bond facts from interviews like this, it perpetuates false information becoming "fact". Don't get me wrong--I thought GoldenEye was a sensational film, and give Mr. Campbell full credit for it. It's just that one wishes that the directors really knew the franchise--but then again the last film (which I also enjoyed) was directed by a cross dresser who thought that James Bond was a code name. Hopefully Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have not lost sight of all the hard work that their stepfather/father did and the respect he had for the property. Bill |
