Wow! What a car.
The stunt looks amazing - and still, my heart aches to see such a beautiful machine like that destroyed! Regards. ![]() |

The cannon is the oldest trick in the book for rolling a car - I have to say this isn't a 'trick' as such. It is standard practice.

What really excites me about this is that they have set a new world record with 7 and a half rolls before the car came to a stop. This is another world record for the Bond stunt team. I remember the record they had for the boat jump in LALD and I believe they set a record for the car stunt in TMWTGG although I could be wrong on that. Either way very exciting!

The Astons are just remarkable. I recall the documentaries on DAD stating they had to grind down the special snow tires because the damn thing just wasn't skidding and sliding enough during the ice chase.
Now to read this, it just proves that the current Astons are damn near perfect in thier handling and - having been a passenger in one taking a turn at 90+ - the car held the road like a bullet train. I can just imagine the action unit though "The Damn thing won't flip!...Right, rig the cannon." ![]() |

Wow, this was actually a great report, very interesting. Yeah I'd second that opinion - nice to actually have some insight into how they went about certain stunts, rather than simply churning out information we already knew. This is what an actual 'insider' report should be like, in my opinion. |

I am surprised there was stunt man in the car when it flipped. After viewing the trailer several times I just assumed they had rolled the car driver-less but i was wrong.
I wonder if we will see the car hit anything in the film. I can't imagine Aston Martin would have been overjoyed to see one of their products in the script that flips in what is basically a high speed Moose test (albeit a very glamourous one in the form of Eva Green). I would have thought a Sports car manufactuer would have been a little sensitive to that form of accident. We will have to see. he will probably hit a curb or something. or a moose? |

I can just imagine the action unit though "The Damn thing won't flip!...Right, rig the cannon." Two weekends ago, we were in Las Vegas and stopped at Imperial Palace (your kind of place). Two Aston Martins were there on display and for sale in the auto museum. Very fine machinery. Most of the collection is now for sale, as the owner of most of the cars has passed away. 4A ![]() |

I agree that it is one of the better CR reports. The DBS is a fantasic machine. What a testimonty to the engineering capability of AM. I'm surprised that the Bond stunt team flipped an actual AM. I thought they used mass produced cars "dressed" as exotics. That's what I get for thinkin'.

IIRC, the old record was 6 rolls set by the Top Gear show either in the late '05 or early '06 series. Does anyone know differently? ETA: The episode aired 24 July 2005 and the car rolled only 5 times. This post has been edited by Navy007Fan: 12 October 2006 - 16:25 ![]() |
