Odd; haven't the two ranges produced little in the way of action figures? I suppose that's why they're in the same book!

I think some of the Sideshow Bond figures are pretty nice, but I'm not impressed at all with the current ones.

cool! I love those old Bond dolls from the 60's they look so funky, I've always wanted modern GI Joe style Bond toys and been very dissappointed that the modern films havent really had much in the way of toy tie ins

![]() Below, you can find an exclusive interview of the author of the new book “James Bond and Indiana Jones: Action Figures” (I made it for CBN last week for the release of the book). If you want to ask him some other questions, no problem post them on this thread. Me: Why did you choose to write a book about the Bond figures ? Nicolas Fleurier: It was a logic choice after writing some articles on licensed products for the French magazine Dixième planète, and the first two on James Bond and Indiana Jones. But I did not want to do a guide, I wanted something else, something I would have bought and read. That is why I adopted a chronological point of view. And that is why there are some reflections on collecting in the book, as well as bibliographical references and pictures taken on locations. Me: Why did you choose to include the Indiana Jones’ figures (no more items for James Bond) ? NF: There is more than a mere connection between the two movie series, and these parallels have been indexed in the foreword of the book. Me: Are you a Bond fan and do you collect some collectibles ? NF: Yes I am, or I was, because it seems not possible or desirable to write on a subject without knowing it very well. And I think there is no better way to know how to collect than to do so. However, it is not enough when you write on this issue. You have to take some distance to really understand the phenomenon. Me: Which type of toy lines can we find in your book (Gilbert, Mego…) ? NF: You can find all toy lines that were ever related to James Bond or Indiana Jones and that includes action figures. So, Gilbert and Mego appear among other toy manufacturers' names, like Mattel and Hasbro. Me: Is there a listing of the toy sellers (or how we can get these items) ? NF: No, there is no listing of such kind, because it could be considered as an advertisement. But there are listings of the action figures for each range. Me: Could we find some interesting notes about the prototypes or the customs ? NF: Naturally, there are some developments on prototypes, unproduced items and customs as well. For example, you can find some pictures of an action figure of Sean Connery as Henry Jones in the book. Me: Do you have other writing projects about Bond (like a book about Corgi’s collection) ? NF: Well, I do not intend to write another book on James Bond or Indiana Jones toys. And a book on Corgi cars has recently been written by Dave Worrall. But I wrote an article on James Bond video games for Dixième planète that has just been published. Besides, the English version of the book contains an exclusive summary of this article. ![]() |
