Wow! I had always wondered about that cut in the Venice gondola scene, but did not know about all that other missing dialogue & footage from the film. Nice find, Solex.

And then a year later they have a character named Pussy Galore. Go figure, stupid censors. Interesting read!!

I've always been surprised at the amount of overt sexual content in FRWL, considering the cuts that were made it's pretty amazing what made it past the censors. Still, love to see it with all the bits and bobs...shame to not have the "What a performance!" line in either scene. wink.gif

If anyone could produce from his collection the Region 2 french Warner home video rental VHS of FRWL from the eighties, (pan & scan); I'm sure you will find many of these supposed cuts uncut there. Would be interesting to check out.

One little factual error in the penultimate point - it was, of course, Tania who shot Rosa.

But othewise, very interesting indeed.

Wow. That's actually quite a lot of stuff they cut. It would have made for a significantly sweatier, sexier, more violent film, and it already was all of those. I can just see Connery saying 'Two hours should straighten this out': that is pretty dark stuff. The 'What a performance!' line would have been brilliant on both occasions, and would probably be two of the more famous moments in the series. The fact that the best fight scene in the series' history is shortened from Young's original cut is a little shocking. The gypsy scene too. I'd love to see the original cut, but I guess we never will. This deserves more attention, I think.

This is the kind of nit-picking that makes being a fan really worthwhile! Absolutely fascinating.

I always wondered what the missing line of dialogue was on the gondola. Now we know.
