Couldn't find this mentioned elsewhere, but I see the new DVD of GoldenEye threatens to be the most violent yet; even increasing its certificate. Here's what I found on another board: QUOTE An uncut 'Ultimate Edition DVD' will be released on July 17th 2006. The previous cuts have been reinstated but the certificate has been raised to an 18. The uncut region 2 DVD can be ordered at UK Amazon 13s 12 cert 124:04s Cut for cinema in 1995 during film editing. The same cuts were required to all 12 rated video versions The BBFC commented on the cuts to the 2001 release: Company was asked to make seven compulsory cuts to scenes of violence as per the previously released 1996 12-rated version From MI6 * A head butt was cut at Xenia's "wait your turn" line to Natalya * Three head butts were deleted during the cradle fight between Bond and Trevelyan. * Bond's rabbit punch on Xenia was cut from both US and UK theatrical releases. The DVD commentary suggests that the following cuts were made at the editing statge: * At the beginning of the film, when 006 is shot, originally one clearly saw the impact to the head. * Towards the end of the film, when Onatop is dragged to her death, originally the dragging and death struggle were a bit longer/more explicit. Box set DVD extras include a documentary looking at this history of Bond. When it came to an interview with Famke Janssen about her character, one of the scenes shown was this exact same scene in it's UNCUT format. Not sure about the '18' bit, but the artwork seems to have a '15' sticker on it. |

Just like the Brits. Afraid of the rough stuff in their movies, but when it comes to morality, anything goes (make "love" and not war stuff).

Yeah; that's right- the UK has harsh censorship. Naturally all of our networks are too scared to allow any swearing at any time. No; hang on- I'm thinking of the US.
Plus, from the description of the GE Uncut DVD: QUOTE The US version lost a brief shot showing the bullet impact on 006 's head in the teaser sequence, and Xenia's death was trimmer. Bond's rabbit punch on Xenia was cut from both US and UK theatrical releases. US television cut Ourumov shooting one of his own guards. Didn't the US version of DAD lose out on the love scene too? I'm baffled as to how you're making the link from imaginary censored violence to increased violent crime: do tell. |

Cheers for the news, MTM - was wondering about this "uncut" version of GOLDENEYE. I've seen the full-length version overseas, and even though we're only talking about a few seconds of footage it seems a much tougher film than the UK edit. Great news.

QUOTE * At the beginning of the film, when 006 is shot, originally one clearly saw the impact to the head. But since we know his shooting is fake anyway, isn't it a mistake to make it look more realistic? ![]() ![]() |

Just my train of thought, Roebuck. Saying that though, Bond would see what we were seeing. (Trevelyan and Ouroumov must have used some pretty elaborate make-up effects to fool Bond though. Can't really mistake the sight of someone getting 7.65mm of metal to the face.)

I'd previously mentioned this briefly in this article, but this thread is probably evidence enough that this deserves its own little article.

I do believe Goldeneye can be released fully uncut ..even too in the US market as the site below lists that the US version had MPAA edits just like Licence To Kill:
http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=1155 R1 SE America - (MGM) - No Cuts - US theatrical cut with MPAA edits. Can anyone remember seeing The US release (which features a PG-13 rating) which reportedly trims down the shooting of Trevelyan during the pre-title sequence, the scene of the attack on Severnaya by Xenia, as well as her own death in the Cinema or the fully uncut version? Hi, did anyone see Tomorrow Never Dies on ITV the other week? There were scenes in that that were not included on the UK DVD cuts - one in particular where they are on the stealth ship at the end and Wai Lin takes out a guy with a throwing star. Always wondered what happened there. Has there been any word on the new cut for Tomorrow Never Dies?
Thanks.. |

Trying not to sound thick, but....
I have the R1 version of GE from the last series of releases. I bought it beacuse I was aware of the UK edition cuts. However, is this R1 version the complete overseas version refered to in these threads, or is it too cut? And will the new R2 versin be the most complete ever available anywhere? I'd have thought the more explicit the advertising on these new Uktimate eds - "THE MOST COMPLETE VERSION EVER RELEASED, ANYWHERE, PROMISE" - might just help sales when there will be a lot of duplication going on for most buyers. |

Hell no.I wonder why only a few more seconds of unseen footage?
From what i know they shoot maybe an hour or more and in the editing table trim it. Is this true. I always wish that one gets to see an additional half hour or forty five minutes of footage. But then the storyline will be altered. It ll be like a new film. ![]() www.medaccessindia.com
