What does this all mean? British broadcaster that shows (and, more often than not, heavily edits) the Bond films gets to show the latest one "shock". I know - epoch-shattering news, isn't it? ![]() ![]() "There was a violent cruelty, a pathological desire to wound, quite near the surface in the man." I don't want to be nasty towards our main "competitor" but this was in THE WASHINGTON TIMES. Okay, so I do want to be nasty towards them. I take everything they print with a pinch of salt.

ITV get Casino Royale-great they can butcher it and shove 40 mins of news in the middle, the way we want to watch it. Oh and have their celebrities singing Bond themes for an hour beforehand. Sounds terriffic
Hardly surprising since they own the rest of the films. I'll stick to the DVD thanks |

Odd how they have this deal with the Bonds- they always get to show it before the satellite channels. It's only been taking two years for them to get on as opposed to the usual three.

Though I do miss the post lunch Bank Holiday/Christmas crap-fest that is a Rog Bond or DAF, does it really matter who shows the films or how they cut them: haven't we all got them, or at least the one's we want, on DVD? Hell, we'll probably buy them again when the new, improved ones appear in July!

When i saw TND on ITV, it had a load of stuff put back in that wasn't on the DVDs - like Wai Lin throwing stars in the stealth ship corridor before going to the engine room, and Bond kicking that guy in the face while he's on the floor. Same with LTK, the Felix being eaten by sharks was far more graphic than my DVDs, so ITV does have some good things - do you know if these scenes will be put back in on the new HD DVDs??

Never noticed that - but I tend not to watch the movies now on TV thanks to DVD. As far as cuts are concerned on the DVD's, its always best to try track down the most complete edit of the movie, even if it means on Region 1. I'm pretty sure my R1 TND and LTK are as complete as they can be. As far as the new releases go I HOPE they are the most complete versions of all 20 that they can... but I'll probably be wrong |

The late Leslie Halliwell was the man who originally secured the 007 rights for ITV.
He was in charge of those deals for the network back in the 1960s and 1970s and (the story goes) that the BBC passed picking up the rights which opened the door for ITV to snatch them up. ![]() ![]() Robert Brown was Admiral Hargreaves in TSWLM, OP, AVTAK, TLD and LTK damnit Enforcer, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Roger Moore Proud defender of Barbara Bach, Carole Bouquet, Barbara Carrera, Maryam D'Abo, A View to a Kill, Never Say Never Again and The Spy Who Loved Me. |
